WANTED: RR Classic Warning Lamps & Door Lock Rods

Post by mu-stu »

Thought I'd put this here since it's more relevant to LRs than in the generic section.

I'm after the warning lamps for the Handbrake & Parking Lights from a 1981 RR. Mine weren't there when I bought the thing and now I've worked out which wires are for what, I'd like to have them working. So it's the bit that illimunated bit that fits between the dash console and steering column.

Cheers
Stu

HI guys,

Still looking for some of these.

Also, the door lock rods which run, internally, from the external door look to the internal one. Been wondering why the doors never locked and just assumed I needed another key which I didn't get when I bought the car. So on the weekend I pulled off the lining and it seems as though there were none there in the firts place!! Wouldn't mind being up to lock the car up without having to climb in the back over the LPG tank, back seat, etc....!! ;)

Cheers

If it's a 2 door, then the rods should be right (but I don't need the whole door  I have another set under the house but they don't have the rods either!) otherwise for the lamps, they are the hooded variety and sit below the instrument binacle. I'd imagine they would be the same but someone else may know?

Certainly would!

I think the ends (cups) turn brittle, being plastic. I have the 2 rods but the plastic ends have broken.

PM me the details.

Hi,

You can make cup replacements out of 12mm plastic irrigation pipe saddles. Just cut in half, drill a hole just smaller than the ball near the cut and press over ball. The existing nail holes in the saddles thread nicely on the rod between the key and lock.
