IMPORTING MY SHORTY

Post by legsx1 »

Hi - I live in NZ and I was wondering what restrictions there would be if I wanted to import my shorty GQ into Queensland.

Current specs are - 35" tyres, 2" body and suspension lift, V8 injected petrol engine, plus others that probably dont matter

Can i get my shorty GQ into Queensland legally and use it

Help would be appreicated

Your best bet will be to talk to the Federal Department of Transport ( www.dotars.gov.au ) they're the ones that will allow the car into the country.

As to the registration of the car, you'll then need to talk to the State, QLD, and get their approval to register the vehicle.

From a modifaction point of view the only problem I can see is the 35s. Throw on some smaller tyres to register it with and use your 35's as offroad only and you should be right. But I'd still follow sierrajim's advice.

thanks guys for your responses

No we dont have GU shortys here in NZ, my truck has quite a lot of gear on it, lower ratio diffs, 45% reduction gears in ther box, fr & rr lockers. So it is very well setup, however yes a GU shorty would be better

Sierra Jim who was the first reply in this thread is also an importer. I think he has given him the right people to contact.

Are you actually moving over here or just want to bring it over short term?
