TD42 water pump leak

Post by Mugs »

Hi all, A while back I pulled the water pump out of my Maverick while checking all the cooling system, looked like new so it went back in but with an anoying minor drip from the top stud. I left it for a while and put a new gasket in, tightend it up and.....still drip drip.
I'm no mechanic but is it possible that the leak is from inside the block comming down the stud? Or have I just stuffed up the gasket replacement?
It's no major leak but I'm planning some larger trips and also don't like the way it is slowly spraypainting my engine with coolant. :?

Any advice?
Cheers

Make sure mating surfaces are flat and not warped. Make sure bolts tightened evenly.

Note sometimes the thermostat housing O ring can be the cause. This on top side and behind of the water pump, ie below thermostat housing.
