If it is a LWB, I would turn it into a woody it would be cool as.
Peter.
PS, think of all the cool bumper stickers
"want a ride the biggest woody in town"?
"I like to park my woody round the back"
"I wish my girlfriend was as dirty as my woody"
"my woody can go all weekend"
"don't laugh my woody may be inside"
"when I grow up I want to be king dong"
" I need 33" rubbers for my woody"

I know how temping when planning to paint a car it is to try and find a color that has not been seen on a sierra, and gets ooohs and ahhs. but for a bush rig, I would keep it simple, touch ups are going to need to happen at some point so find a color that is off the shelf at your local. Plain white hides scratches better then anything.

Flouro colours
Flames are always cool
Yellow flames on a blue car
Example
But for the most simple and pratical get 4 litres of killrust in a colour you can also get in spray tins. Scratches are NEVER a problem ever again. You can also get killrust tinted to what ever colour you want. Check the website for detials

But don't forget the "EMO" values too

ok
go for the rex look mate.will look good im sure but if its going to be used as a off road rig surely just a basic, flatter colour will work.I think matt black or olive like the jeeps always looks tuff for the bush. Also i think you should keep going and put the boxer in it too.
sierra truggy,37 sticky treps,propane,6.5s and disconnect,lux diffs with spools,16" fox shox,hydro steer.
Re: ok
its getting done cheap like really cheap as i know the bloke whos doing it for me like little to no labour and paying for paint if u get me should cost about 1K or less to doTurbo Tonka wrote:go for the rex look mate.will look good im sure but if its going to be used as a off road rig surely just a basic, flatter colour will work.I think matt black or olive like the jeeps always looks tuff for the bush. Also i think you should keep going and put the boxer in it too.

Go camo! I know i will be!
Then if (and when) you scratch it , you can just custom camo it over with any number of colours (brown, olive, green, ochre, etc).
That way you can use whatever colour is handy - and cheap.
ie - 3 different green coloured paint will make the camo look better!
p.s. I have heard that striped paint is great for zuk's!

If you are going to pay money for a spray job, get the car painted in a stock colour code. Don't get anything tricky.
Personally, I would never pay money to get a car painted to take offroad. My car is Olive Drab, $80 for 4 litres, painted it myself. $130 for a spray gun, maybe $30 for thinners and you are away.
sure it's equipment enamel and will never be shiny or stick that well, but I just touch it up when I need to. Becuase mine is flat, there is no problem with touching up.
I wouldn't recommend a gloss finish for this reason - It is too hard to keep looking good.
Sierras have such flat and wavy panels that gloss paint shows up lots of small imperfections that make the car look badly repaired. Flat paint even hides plenty of panel damage.
If you are already doing the prep, then all the hard work is already done. Pick a generic colour like a colourbond code or something and just get some colour on it.
The first time you rub it along a bank you can say "at least I didn't waste a grand".
PS Boner59's camo job looks pretty good. Most camo is embarrassing because it doesn't mimic a "proper" camo- the colours or distribution is wrong.
Just my 2C

If you like blue, you could try the Suzuki code 1FG which is a deep metallic blue. In my case, it is teamed with a two tone paint job with Suzuki Satellite Silver (which changes its code a bit). this is a home paint job with a $150 Supercheap compressor.
This was the original colour of my vehicle, and I elected to stay with it although I am not big on dark colours (I love white!).

try_me, i like your style.
it kinda rubs me the wrong way to see people spending $$$ on engine suspension tyres and all the rest of the go hard crap only to shout it a $50 paint job and call it tuff. to me it is not tuff, its rough. and its just another reason for the cops to pull you over when your driving something that looks like it got the shot coat to cover the rust for rego. i agree with the idea that sierras have flattish warped panels, but keep it a light colour and it will be fine.
a scatched good paint job will always look better than a scatched crappy flat job.
i Know i'll get shot down again like i did in another thread recently but
