Post by vSAHARAx »

Hey all

Will an 80 series power steering box fit onto my 89 hj61? are there any differences between the two boxes?

Cheers Troy

not sure, neveer tried. the spline is the same I think, I can measure the bolt patten of an 80 box if you want?

does the pitman arm face forward or back on the 60? if it is the other way to the 80 then you can't do the swap, or left will become right - very hard to drive!

if you have an 80 right there you can measure it up yourself and see if it will fit!

(what's wrong with a 60 series power steer box, they are plenty strong)

60 boxes are good i got nothing against them, its just mine is absolute pouring out oil, so ill replace it with what ever i can get my hands on, ill put an 80 series or another 60 box, it doesnt worry me i just want it to stop leaking :P

If the 80 is home this arvo ill measure it all up. Cheers dumbdunce and Shadow.

I thought the 80 box are pretty close .. but the pump on 80 series makes a world of diference ..

The 60 PS system it's barely enough ..
