Havoc needs help (duh)

Post by havoc_customs »

hey guys i need some advice. for those of you that havent seen my rig

Image

MK leaf over, MK diffs runnin a turbo 1HZ and 5spd cruiser box. just got the 39.5 inch swampers on it as 36 inch big horns just don't suffice.

now the problem that faces us is MK diffs are weaker than John Howards 'promises' as we showed today by shattering 2 CV's and a rear axle in about 3 minutes flat. Can someone please gimme some advice as to wether or not GU diffs (w/ heat treated CV's and what not) will stand up a little better or get danas out of an F truck. As i was contemplating buying a complete F truck and using the diffs, V8 and auto in the Patrol. what do ya reckon?

any advice would be great guys.. thanks in advance

hey havoc.
you guys welded up the rear arm on my mates gq at cruiser at round 1 of the winch challenge series.

that mk is awesome.
id use 60 series diffs if i were you............... correct offset for the transfer etc (unlike gq or gu.) or id run a 60 or gu front diff and a h260 from a mk ute or p40 wagon. actually h260 and 60 series front would be the pick

60 series front diffs are cheap as and marginally weaker than a gu, if you spend a lil on longfield bits will eat a gu diff easily and prob still cost the same as the gu diff combo.
if you shop around the h260 and 60 front would cost you 200 for the pair

cheers badger.

i asked about specificly about the 'GU' and 'dana' combo's because i can get both relatively cheap. i'm not really lookin for a quick/easy fix this time. i want something that will be bullsh*#t strong as i have a pretty heavy right foot and i drive hard.

forget the gu's then unless u can get the new comp cv's cheap
hence why i said 60 series.
look at rock buggies even the biggest teams dont run gu's

gu's are good but not with tyres that big
and i have no idea bout danas but id say they are not a good idea in aust as spares cant be had at the local wreckers

i dont know the answer as to whats stronger dana 44 or gu as they both have good and bad points ( consider dana 60 )
i thought dana diffs where hard to come buy when i brought my jeep but i have sence entered the 'dana diff owners club' and there not that hard or expensive to find as every thing yank has them you can get BRAND NEW dana diffs including brakes , center etc...for under $1500 from an importors that wont rip you.
if you want a set dana diffs, dana 44 front and dana 70 rear 4.88 ratio drum all round I 'll sell you a set for $1200
