W.E.Rock Eastern Creek - 11th/12th August - Round 2

500? don't think there was that many there when I left at about 12:30....MQ080 wrote:Out there today viewing the action… Appeared to be about 500ish spectators, few sponsors’ stalls & the obligatory ice-cream van. Big thumbs up to those that organised a "Sydney" event, however thumbs down on $20 entry fee per person.
Left the $20 entry fee was a bit steep for what the spectator got....heck even the cappacino van didn't sell coffee (I needed it badly in the morning)

1st - ABT firebug
2nd - Tim Scutt
3rd - Adrian
4th - pete antunac

there might be a swap between adrian and pete on the final results im not sure as pete had a blinder of a drive on the shootout....
with regards to rolling it..... most competitors rolled it at least once......

I personally wasnt really impressed with where the crowd was, i think more improvement definately needs to be made to the spectator locations for next events.... but alot of that was probably insurance and also to ensure spectators paid there entry fees also...
with regards to the courses.... i reckon they are crackers, i much prefer this style of even rather than the standard we rock setup.... this is nice and close and we have access to all things required, more spectators and there is endless lines to take on these courses to challenge the drivers..
i think the future of this sport is in city based man made courses....

Yeah crowd is way back, which wouldn't be a problem had it not been for the fence. That's Eastern Creek's call though I think, not Sam's.just cruizin' wrote:So the feelings about a man made course, from the drivers point of view, compared to natural rocks etc. Looks like the crowd is a far way back, abit different to normal.
The man made course is unreal to drive on. So much grip which lets you do all sorts of things. You know how the buggy will react most of the time because the surface is consistent.
Was a good event and I thoroughly enjoyed driving in it.

i agree about driveability. i drove the judges buggy up through a nice little course and i tell ya wat you can feel wat the buggy is doing so well, it feels much more controlable, u feel you can go on larger angles, and if you tip your back on your wheels within a coupla seconds expecially with how incredibly successful the recoveries were at this event where as at normal we rocks the recoveries take much longer...
