WTD: Spring lift required 2 fit 37's with LRA 2.5" body
I'm doing some research into what would be required to fit 37's under my 4dr Rangie. As stated, I currently have the LRA 2.5" body lift fitted (which is an excellent product for those interested). The rest is standard suspension.
LRA reckon that a 36" will fit with this body lift alone and some very generous guard cutting. Has anyone fitted 36" with just the latter mods? and are there any problems like rubbing still?
My second question is: if I want to go to 37" how much of a spring lift would I require? I want to keep it as low as possible to keep mods and top heavyness to a minimum, but I dont what it to rub if I can avoid it and I'd rather not extend the bump stops (but understand that I may need to). I'm happy to do the guard cutting, and am planning the cut soon anyway. The 37's would go on a set of offset wheels.
All your input greatly appreciated.

if you do not want to go to high just do a 2" spring lift u wont notice a large difference in COG, that with flaired guards should give u a fair amount of clearence with out going to high however u will still scrub tho just not as much plus u can get cheap 2" dobby kits on ebay for not much

yes that is true but it will reduce the amount of rubbing whilst not lifting it to much like he wants
if your running 37s it will always rub at that hight unless he spent huge bucks i could not see a setup that would make it not rub for a relatively low cost
i also think that with this set up u would not have to do a large amount of body modifications to reduce the rubbing

Springs, shocks and bumpstop spacers. Probably something such as a 2" longer soft spring, with a matching shock that will also need to be 2" longer in the extended length, and so probably also 1" longer when compressed and then a 1" bumpstop spacer to protect the shock and will also limit the maximum uptravel of the axle. The ride height will be determined by the spring rate that you want, but the lift would probably only be around 2"+/- doing it this way. A 2" consumer lift is generally just stiffer springs that are the same length as standard with shocks to suit.

From what I remember, it was a 2" BL and 4-5" sus lift with some guard cutting both front and rear. Tyres were Maxxis Creepies 37x14.5x15 on 15x8 rims with a neg30 offset.

Slunnie, I really like the ride my Rangie has now and would be very disappointed if some mob just threw in stiffer springs. Something to check up. Essentially what you're saying is that I only need another 1" of clearance, but to obtain that, I need to go up 2"
Perhaps the crux of the question is how low do I need to drop the bump stop (with the LRA body kit) to fit 37's If 1" is all I need then that's great. Can anyone else confirm this? (not that I dont trust you Slunnie).

No mate, thats cool. Those numbers were to highlight different suspension design and flow on effects rather than saying that this is what you may be after. Ok. HiJack thinks 2 inches would do it too. What I think I will do is:
1. cut the guards nice and big so there is plenty of room.
2. fit the tires and articulate the truck until the they rub to get my measurement.
3. Extend the bump stops so the tires just clear the body.
4. Go up in lift 2x the length of the bump stop extension to regain the travel, which by all accounts sounds like 2-3".
Sound like a good plan? 2-3" shouldn't require much in the way of mods.

They're currently 265/75R16 on the truck. Couldn't find any pics of my truck stuck, plently of my mates' lux and patrol! The terrain is usually rocky or heavily rutted.
I've been stuck enough times to know that I need more clearence. Not so much under the diffs, I've nearly got as much clearence under there as my mates '79 hilux with 35s, but I'm forever bashing the front bumper/chassis rail, side rails and ALWAYS that long rearend. And I'd like to get all that up out of the way, while keeping roll centre to a minimum. Extra clearence under the diffs is a bonus.

Have a think about running polyairs in all 4 springs for when you need that little bit of extra height.

The 38's hit on the steering protector but the were on standard offset nissan rims which are crap back spacing for rangies.
With them pumped up high they make about 2-2.5" difference in my truck, but I have very soft springs so I think this would vary from truck to truck.
