Hi Guys
For the past 2 yrs I have had 2 Century 4WD batteries linked and they have been great. At the beginning of the year the alternator lost the plot and was putting out 17volts.
Had the alternator replaced with a nice 100amp and all was good until I got stuck in water after going too deep and had to crank for 15 min to get running again. (snorkel now fitted)
The next week the car was not so happy starting. But still did start.
Took the batteries out and found them to be dry. Prob because of the 17V going through them for a while. Topped them up and charged them.
Has been cranking ok but not what they used to be.
Today bought my self a multimeter to check a few things out.
Batteries were 12.3v with engine off.
Went to start the car and heard a strange noise.
Would not turn over.
Head lights are strong and do not dim when I try to start.
I went through the gregorys book on trouble shooting
I can turn the engine by hand, only just.
I checked the terminals.
The rest of the wiring is a little confusing.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Since I was in that water for 15-20min I have hear a werring sound and I thought it might be the air cond bearing or something like that.
Could it have been something with that starter motor?
Would a starter motor struggle before it dies like a failing battery.
Or do they just fail without warning?
