fresh 1.6l drinking water

Post by Aerenandmel »

Im looking for any ideas i may have missed before I end up pulling the car apart again. Ive just finnished putting a 1.6L 16v in my sierra. I had the head off, had it faced & new gaskets. bottom end was tight so I didnt touch it. I used the 1.3l sump. Problem is the sump is filling up with water quik. filled it up, no leaks. run it for a minute then I topped the water up, drove around the block and it got hot. It was out of water, tis in the sump????? it was gone real quik. it dont sound good to me but im hoping it could be something simple & not just a big hole ive overlooked.

I'd lay $$$ on the head gasket.. Check all the holes line up in head and block.

i can bring a pressure tester around later in the week if you havn't found anything beforehand. i'd take the tappet cover off and the spark plugs out, pump it up with some pressure and hopfully find your leak
