easy to make and quick front bar, any ideas

i need to put a front bar on my sierra 89 model to register it and need to make a quick and simple front bar. so i was wondering if anyone had any pics or ideas for a easy front bar.

whats wrong with the factory bumper?
1999 SQ625 Manual Grand Vitara. Lifted, Twin Locked, 31' Extremes, dual Batteries, Winch.
Lots of custom gear as I cant afford the proper stuff.

I think you'll find any bumper build is over a days worth of work if you havent made one before. There was a thread a little while ago on tube bumpers lots of good ideas on there :cool:

great idea but not exactly what i am after. it can take longer than a day, i was just after some ideas or pics of some bars, i wanted just a simple looking bar, a few bends and so forth nothing that is to over the top.

Get some C-section from your local metal yard. Bolt/weld on to your chassis underneath the grill. tekscrew indicators on to it.

Easy to do. Easy to reverse. Cheap (prolly about $60 for the steel. Could be cheaper?). Will look shit.

1 length 2.5"pipe 1 short bit 3" pipe, 1 length angle line, 6 cable ties

Agree with most of this; just dont weld it to the chassis, otherwise you'll never get it registered. Oh and if you cant get C-section cheaper than $60 I'd be surprised. You'll end up with a bumper 'like' on the LJ's then.

On the other end of the scale my front bar took about 6 months: Initial drawings, wooden mock up, actual end product. Probably not what your after though.

That Pajero reminds me of that insurance ad on TV, with the sons celica getting covered up with stuff by his dad :D . Must say it suits the pajero, colours and all :D .
Wheeling on completely wicked angles, without even looking stable.

You could spen spend as much or as little time as you like on a front bar, but if you need to get it registered quick, just track down a stock front bumper. or a commercial bull bar.

If you knock one together quick, you are unlikely to be happy with it, and you'd better read the regs on bumpers, radius, tube diameters, projected edges etc are all covered - it would be a PITA to biuld something then get knocked back and have to cut it up and start again.

Fabricating front bars is slow, fiddly and always takes longer than expected.

The Unit1, if you need a stock front bumper to borrow, I think mines still here, and your in Brissy (according to your avatar thing). You could borrow it from me, but I want it back when your done. Its in pretty average condition, but should be enough to get it regoed. Its been modified to fit to a car with the ends of the front tube missing, but will still fit a car with the front still in tact. Oh and its painted really glossy red :roll: , might look funny if your car isn't red.

i dont have a standard front bumper for it. thanks for the help, i was thinking of chasing a stock bumper just to get it on the road.

x eleventy billion, i made my own and took longer than i wished! just borrow a stocko bumper and get it regoed with that :lol:

you will need something that atleast comes out the width of the car and it will need smooth edges and what not to be able to pass roadworthy, you are probly better getting a mangled standard one from a wreckers and using that for rego.
