100 series 5 inch lift questions

Post by Harrow »

Hey guys and girls Just hopping someone can help me. I have a 100 series 2002 model live front axle with a 3 inch lift on it. Im wanting to go a 5 inch lift. Has anyone done this? (Im sure someone has)
I was wondering if anyone knows any problems i will encounter e.g. front drive shaft uni joints etc?

Thanx

Once you go over 4 inches, the caster goes right off the scale and the pannies need adjusting and the driveshafts start vibrating, and custom length shox and and....your better off buyiong 2 inch body blocks and keeping your 3's

I was going to put in 5 deg. carstor plates to fix this and new panhards.

The parts ill be replacing are:

- 5 inch coils lovell
- 6 or 7 inch shocks 45mm tough dog (for more flex)
- 5 deg. carstor plates
- panhard rods
- steering dampner

gibson driveshafts in newcastls, $480 for a complete driveshaft.

FRONT DRIVESHAFT

Post by lukes4x4 »

Need to keep it constant 4wd if its a gxl with abs. cv`s need to turn for it to work. part time kit is risky if it has abs, as if you prang it anyone that looks at the abs light will know that its not working.

Yeh, thats my problem. Bought my 105 with the part time t-case already done. I was going to ask if there is a way of disconnecting ABS to run part time hubs.

DiD a 4 inch lift on my 105 last weekend. and it cam up 5.5in.. and i now mave massive front end vibes, so its D/C time. And auto 105's have different length shafts to manual ones, as i found out today.
will have to get a D/C shaft made up.

Double cardan shaft

Post by lukes4x4 »

Yeah if you need a Double Cardan Adaptor I have them for $250. You cant change the flange cause it goes right through the transfer.

Good luck with figuring out which lift to get.
If articulation is something that is a factor you can get longer than usual shocks, tie in the bottom rear coils and let the coil drop out so no need really to get a bigger lift for articulation, in my opinion anyway plus the higher you go it would be a bit more unsettled on side slopes. Just got to fit those tyres in. I am not trying to talk you out of a 5" lift but I am just trying to be informative.

Either way I should be able to help with some good pricing at www.suspensionstuff.com.au. It is not on the site but Cruiser Procomps 26.6" and 27.5" rears are very cheap till stocks last. If you match them with 26.5" fronts then $430 including boots and freight.

If you tie in a 4 or 5" lift I would recommend the 29.5" rears.

adapter for what?? the rear double cardon from an 89 dual cab 2.8 diesel bolts straight up to the transfer and diff, just need to loose a few inches between centres...maybe $250 tops to have that done, and a wrecker for the shaft.

Hey Richard why don't you fit 30mm packers front & rear to your exsisting spring & see whether it vibrates.
If not just go the longer shocks & panhards 4 & a bit lift.
cheers John
