when i lived in melbourne years ago my nebeighs raced circut and i can remeber them telling me about a class that use only outboards engines 200hp plus in open wheelers i always liked that idea but due to the price of buying and repairing an out board i would never think of it serously though.

Most of the new high HP diesels are transverse only. See the diesel sierra front cut thread.

I still say diesels are worse than pointless in a sierra. Take a light car with a revvy engone and put a heavy engine that doesn't rev in it.

If you drive a sierra with a 660 in it (the way they are supposed to be, and most are in Japan) you'd never want a heavy, low revving engine in a sierra they are just perfect.

Not having a go, but a Sierra isn't a landcruiser (or a hilux, thank God:D)... trying to turn a sierra into one doesn't make it a better car.

i know steve but 125 hp @ 4500rpm sounds good but ill stick with a 1.3 with head work and over size pistons one can wounder if it would work. boner

Agree, and there are 175hp small diesels too (Renaultsport Megane) but these transverse, alloy, EFI, common rail etcetcetc diesels would be so hard (and expensive)to fit... and if you have road gearing that runs 3500rpm or more at 100km/hr running a diesel is cruel to the poor thing.

That's one of the problems with diesels in sierras. you can't get the mix right between crawl ratio and cruise RPM.

ok i'll stick with the 1.3 till it dies then who knows hay steve do you know a good cam that will work with the weber ? i was thinking of more duration ? but same lift any ideas

Don't know a huge amount about cams, except when you run out of oil they snap in half

Anyway first of all, Sierra cams shouldn't be reground as they are light and hollow with quite a big centre hole (yes I know cams are supposed to be hollow). You can buy aftermarket ones (dont know too much about them); I think BBM sell one for the G13B, also someone like Suzisport would most likely have something, maybe start there.

leave the cam alone put 1.6ltr vitara and throw some boost in and run it on LPG cheap to run, light and grunty then go bigger tyres and all will be improved. I think in reality this is best for a car that is driven by some one who wants a good alrounder and dosent need a to be a thrill seeker but wants to get the finish line with everyone else but i would go super charger not turbo much less heat, cheaper to do and more low down torque etc...

IMHO, espesialy in a swb
