Why Sierra?
Why Sierra?
Your answer: Dollars to buy, dollars to mod/maintain, dollars to run.
Try to add up cost of a 90's model hilux/landcruiser/patrol/etc, cost of modifications to suspension/tyres, and cost of weekly running...
the Sierra will win every time...

you can only understand the love of owning a zook after owning it for a while.
JEEP owners are NOT homosexual(is that better) i own one, ok its a classic 1963 willys jeep but its still a jeep and i all so have a very capable GQ patrol some on here no it, it has won a few troffys for winch challange etc.. but i cant stay away from zooks. i have ownded 6 zooks and i am currantly building another one, it has cost as much as my patrol so far, sad to say,
its not so cheap when you leave the inner suzuki circle but in form its still a sierra and i tell everone who wants to get into offroading get a sierra first if you out grow it or its not for you then its a small los but if you love it what a cheap gain

All the parts are light which makes it easy to work on too

jeep is american for G A Y MAN
we all drive different things because thats what we are into.
i drive the GU some places and some i wont.
i got my zook/s because i wanted a cheap 4x4 to go out and have fun in and not have to worry about damage etc...
for the price of repairs to the scratches on my door i got a zook with 6months rego and a couple extra goodies aswell
for a weekend away with the missus il definately be in the GU (zook is way too uncomfortable on long trips) but for a day trip or whatever il take the zook and go nuts

not a lwb, you have to open the gates either end to fit one, just. but agreed
and to put simply, I get stuck in my GQ patrol it has being at times a 2 day mission to get it out in a sierra i have never being stuck for more than 20 minutes and thats after rolling it. that in its self is priceless.

because its cheaper and a good alternative to get out there and have some fun!! also to modify without spending a whole heap of dollars, parts are readily available and they really are a simple DIY car with no technical issues ie engine management etc.
the vy ss is for everyday in the concrete jungle and the sierra is for offroad and towing my magical 1300cc water sled

I've owned 2x Zooks since 1990. Originally I wanted a Hilux and couldn't afford one. My mate who owned a Hilux said "Why don't you buy a Sierra". I did and have never looked back. Traded my '90 model Sierra in on a '95 Sierra… (STILL HAVE IT)':P'
I get p***ed when someone says I love your Jeep.
IT'S NOT A F***ING JEEP IT'S A ZOOK! ':x'
I will however give credit to some serious 4 Wheeler friends of mine who drive Rangies, Cruisers, and Mitsus… They still admire and respect the ability & might of the Zooky Sierra ''

Why a sierra?
Well I was on the lookout for a cheap daily driver to keep my worked V8 commodoer off the road. I had always known sierra's were pretty capable for what they are and would be good to go camping in also. So I looked around and found a 1989 ute chopped wide track sierra with a GTi swift twin cam motor, spare orignal 1.3 motor, 5x sunraysias with 235/75.15 muddies, 5x stock rims and H/T tyres, spare diff centre, rear locker, arb winch bar and spotlights all for $3000.
Then I went 4 wheeling with a mate who owns a patrol comp truck and kept up with him. That lit a spark in me that has fueled a fire of non stop modification to make an awsome offroad machine while still being a cheap daily driver.
For the money I have spent on my commodore to make it fast I could have bought 10 zooks and modified them to be unstoppable offroad and had more fun than I do in my commy. I can drag the commy but we don't have a circuit to race on which is what it is built for. But there are endless amounts of tracks to test the zook out.
And the 7500rpm rev limit is enough to give any rev head a semi

I have been parts gathering for my Zook project/DD for some time now. For a touch over $3K I have pretty much everything I need to start modding.
This includes: Tyres, gears, seats, air locked lux front diff, bundy rear diff (which I'll weld up), power steering system scrounged from a few cars, jeep coils, UHF, stereo, and some other junk which I cant think of right now. Oh, the above price also includes the actual zook. No I just have to build the sucker
The only other 4wd that comes close in terms of cost effectiveness is a 40 series IMO......Even my old 40 with a V8, dual fuel, spring over, 35s and a bunch of custom stuff came in at well over double that.
