Upgraded headlight looms
Upgraded headlight looms
Was someone selling these on here a while ago?
I need one and don't have the ability or knowledge to make them myself.
I am going to gaffer tape my mag-lite to the bull-bar otherwise.
I am going for the whole replacement globes, loom, and driving lights thing. I hate not being able to see the road ahead.

Just use your original headlight wiring to operate relays. I run hella relays , I have the twin relay setup with 20a fuses. I use a relay for low beam and one for highbeam so I have two of these , one on each side and use a third to run my spot lights , one relay each. I use 4mm cable to feed 12 volt from battery , so they are bright as , I run 90/130 bulbs in the head lights and 130 watt in driving lights , this allows enough power to stop the fillaments becoming brittle and breaking , you would not believe the difference. The relays are about $25 dollars each , Cheers Paul.

Puk , what model have you got , do you have white/red as earth on back of light and red/white as low beam and solid red as highbeam , these are on the plug that plugs into the headlight , mine is a 84/85 model , if you don't know which one is which just see if the colours are the same , Cheers Paul.

If this is usefull , see how you go , Supercheap sell these relays for about $25 dollars. You will need two for your normal headlights and 1 extra to do two spotties
The light earth of the headlight connector is white/red
When you need to add spotty relay I will do another drawing. When running the 4mm accross the engine bay I ran it in front of the radiator up the top of front apron and I ran it inside some black garden watering pipe to protect it from being chaffed , Cheers Paul.

Can you get any more looms?Puk wrote:BTW,
I ended up buying an upgraded loom for less cost than i reckon i could make one for. No soldering, just plug it in and bolt one wire direct onto the battery.
The difference in UNBELIEVABLE!
thanks Potter.

I hate going to weddings because all the grandma's used to poke me in the ribs saying you're next, you're next. They've stopped doing it since I started doing it to them at funerals.
He did it for $75, with 2 relays and a big fuse block, all soldered, and said that he could do one with wiring for spotties as well for an extra $20. Perfect for someone who knows nothing about auto-electrics, it is truly plug-n-play.
It even removed the "negative/positive" switching problem that a lot of people have when they try to wire spotties up to the high beam wire (you know that thing where the high beams come back on when everything else gets switched off?)
I recommend it. I had gone to h4 halogen insert lights and put 100w globes in there. I am dropping back to 55w globes. The wiring loom upgrade makes a lot more difference than the globes.
