g60 questions for a nissan noob

Post by --sinner-- »

hey all, ive been looking at swb fourbies lately....and as appealing as a sierra or vitara is, on account of parts availability, fuel consumption etc.... i dont think i could bring myself to drive one. now ive stumbled across a g60 that needs a littttttle work. needs a windscreen, a soft top made up, and some wiring. how much for a soft top you think?

anyway just curious, its a 4litre i take it? did they come out in 3 or 4 speed manuals? (or auto at all?)

if its a 3 speed...how would that sit on the highway with a set of say...35's to change the ratio a little?

and lastly.... im not expecting anything too amazing...but what sort of fuel consumption do these things do? similar to an fj40?

and info, suggestions, feedback, anything.... appreciated lol

Thery didn't have an auto option and they came out with a non synchronized 3 speed with an over drive as an option.

They where petrol guzzlers just like the current patrols but they where a strong as an ox and will go forever. I got a price for getting a soft top made up for my old G60 and it was about $500 fitted about 10 year ago.

They used to redline at 80km/h in 3rd gear with 31s so I this they would run sweet with a set of 35s without the need to change gearing.

Have a really good look around the rear end and the front guards where the upper and lower join for rust this is the most common place for them but finding one without rust would be near impossable now.

Cheers mick.

hmm so far so good, does anyone know what it would be like on gas/how much it would use? do they still do that 2000 dollar cash rebate if you go on lpg??

or would i be better off swapping the motor to a crossflow or something? ive heard that can be done pretty cheap? any thoughts on that? or prices?

or would i be better off getting a turbo diesel thrown in there?

any idea how much a new windscreen would be?

this seems like a good deal to me, its got arb front and rear bars, pwr steering, disc brakes, and new 35's on it, for a grand. the tyres alone are worth it! just want to get as much info as i can before i commit to buy it hehe :)

thanks for everything so far guys

ok the g60 patrol came out with the p40 4 litre motor , 3 speed gear box with synchro's on 2nd and 3rd. fuel consuption is between 12 and 14 mpg.
lpg conversions are simple and cost effective.
marks 4wd adaptors do not make the kit for the ford 4.1 six any more.
i believe dellows still make there holden v8 kit for the g60
