6.5L Chev in 80 series Qns

Post by vSAHARAx »

Hey All

Lookin at buying an 80 Series with a 6.5L Chev Diesel (non turbo).

Is there anything to look out for when these have been fitted to an 80???

How are they power and economy wise compared to a 1HDT???

I Basically want to pick everybody's brains on this topic, tell me everything you know

Dont know whether to get the one with the 6.5 Chev or wait for a decent 1HDT

Troy.

I was looking at the same for my 80 but when I got a price from brunswick I think I'l' wait for a toyota v8 out of the new cruisers maybe even the twin turbo set up
They quoated $28 000 to supply & install
I think the toyota engine would be a lot better too
Cheers Dan

mate, go for it. :)

everything major on the 6.5 is cheaper to repair than the equivalent toyota part. you will have so much torque you will be handing it out on big hills.

cheers Dan and jess.

Where do you buy parts from? the net? linquip? brunswick diesels?

it would be fantastic for towing the boat!!! how are they for power, say overtaking and so forth, mums 1hdt goes like a shower of shite when you get into it, if they have as much stick as a 4.2 turbo then ill try and go for it!!!

Hill climbs will be a breeze, its twin locked with all that torque :D :D :D
