Hey guys,
I did alot of searching and reading of old threads before posting this and was wondering if you could help me.
I bought an 03 challenger earlier this year, and have been quite happy with it. The car has been well looked after, and has never been offroad before. I'm yet to take it off road, but was planning to next week. This is where I struck a problem.
Yesterday my wife was trying to reverse it up the front yard, where the soil is very loose due to renos on the house. It wouldn't drive up in 2WD, so I said to select 4H. She did, and it still had dramas, but it didn't appear to be in 4WD. Tried 4L and still struggled, although it did seem lower gearing. I asked her if it has the light on the dash, and it didn't show. Then she said it started flashing.
So tonight I did a bit of searching and read about the solenoid problem. Got me thinking. I quickly just took the car for a run, and tried the 4H and 4L again. When I stopped and shifted to 4H, the light flicked once then never showed again. Even restarting the car, and shifting from 4H to 4L, the 4WD indication lamp never shone at all. Would this be the solenoid problem? And even though the gearing has changed, am I to assume that the front auto hubs are not engaging, hence no 4WD? Should I start with checking out the solenoid on the front diff, or should I start somehwere else? Any help appreciated.
