94 kia sportage.That annoying ding!!

Post by simcoe »

Hi all just wondering if any of you sportage owners have found a way to get rid of that annoying ding noise when the keys are in the ignition and doors are left open etc... its my girl friends car and iv just about had enough of it.. took her car for a spin on the beach the other wknd,(gave my big nissan a rest) stopped for a surf and lunch etc and you cant even listen to the music with the doors open..argh!!

Now while i was putting a new cd player in just before i traced the noise all the way back to the ecu.. so i hooked the test light up and found that there are about 4 points that have power. 2 of them lock and unlock the doors and the other 2 are on all the time.Strange though was that the points that where powered wern't flashing to the sound of the ding..if ya get me!?

Any help would be appreciated

Spoke to KIA about the same thing for my 97 model. Appariently it is hooked up into the immobiliser as well. If you disable it it will affect the immobiliser as well. So I am told.

You can take it out with no problems .. Its in a box behind the glovebox , Its just soldered to the board . I took mine out years ago . Cheers
