Is there any difference between the first of the 80 series v8 petrols
(98 model) and the current ones?

Re: 80 series v8's
AFAIK a 98 model would be a 100 series. It's a 2UZ-FE i think - unsure if there have been any substantial changes over the years.bruiser wrote:Is there any difference between the first of the 80 series v8 petrols

the v8 came out in 1998 in the gxv it was 4 speed auto only, then in 2000 i think when the turbo diesel came out they stopped the v8 all together. then in 02 when they dropped the live axle and 6 cyclinder petrol they brought the v8 back and was avaliable in the GXL and sahara.
as far as i know there was no changes to the motor has the same amount of power. just there gearbox was different. which the new 5speed would be better on fuel.
