gq fuel guage is stuffed

Post by maccasMQ »

hey i have a 89 swb patrol, and my tank only reads as half full when its actually full, and i think its only a 50L tank. Where is the fuel sender on the tank? and could it be the float inside the tank, do they have one? will i have to take the tank out to check it out? How do i fix it? cheers.

Hey,

I am fairly sure you can remove the sender without removing the tank. Pull up the carpet in the back and check for a removable panel. take this off and you should be able to get at the bolts holding sender in.

Cheers

If its an aftermarket tank put in when the gas was installed they most likely used the sender in the new petrol tank. I have an LWB and thats where mine is, I dropped the tank and unscrewed the cover where the sender and hoses connect to and the whole thing lifts out. A new one was about $200 but its been in there now for another 10 years.
