Hilux rego problems can anyone lend some advice?

Post by crashtest »

Gday, im trying to rego a hilux a bought a few months ago thats got a few mods and most everything is engineered but theyve shafted me twice so far going through the pits in canberra, fixed the first lot and now time for round 2!

Anyway this time around there telling me i have a suspension lift and extended shackles, that my wheels arent 15x8 and that my wheel track needs to be reduced, Its engineered for 15x8 rims, and F1432/R1410 wheel track however the OE is aparently F 1445 R 1425, and not engineered for lift or extended shackles.

Heres the measurements ive got so far.

i have no idea how to tell if my suspension is lifted
the shackles are about 110-115mm long from eye to eye
Wheel track is F 1450mm, R 1420 from center to center
and im not sure where to measure the wheel width but from where the bead sits on each side its around 8 inches

so can anyone tell me if im measuring things the wrong way and if my shackles are indeed longer than stock ones please? these rego guys are starting to get on my nerves.

Cheers, Clint.

G'day,
Wow its like de ja vous reading your post. I just went through the same dramas the dicko boys myself. As for the things they're bugging you for i'm pretty sure extended shackles are no longer legal here. I had to put some ARB ones on to get over.
The lift cannot be 150mm over the standard height, whatever that is, i never found out, but apparantly the headlights cannot be above a certain height, maybe 1200mm not sure but an engineer like John Wilson can tell you and you could use that info to figure out if it's legal height.
As far as your rim wwidth and track goes, as long as it matches what is on your certificate and it is within the allowances that should please them.
Hope this helps you some.
Good luck mate, Chris.

thanks mate thatd be great, just got the national codes of practice thing from the rta website which is helping with how much it can be modified, but the OE measurements and stuff for the hilux is really hard to find.
