Low Range Offroad

Post by v840 »

Just to let everyone know, Im buying gears and Hi-Steer arms from www.lowrangeoffroad.com so if anyone is thinking of getting junk from there we can probably save on freight if we get it all in the one box etc.

Just putting it out there. Mods, feel free to delete if this is not cool.

We have a free trade agreement with USA on American made products. no tax or duty. I recieved $2500 worth of gears ets from spidertrax a few months ago with only freight to pay.

Well in that case the offer still stands.

Just thought I'd follow up on this and I did some research. Its defientely true and I wish I knew this about 4 weeks ago when I shipped in about AU$1300 of gear into the country in two separate packages...paying double the postage still worked out cheaper than paying the customs import duty...

Straight from the free trade aggreement website.

Under the AUSFTA, trade in automotive parts and accessories between Australia and the United States became tariff free from 1 January 2005. The United States also removed the 25 per cent duty on light commercial vehicles and the 2.5 per cent duty on passenger motor vehicles.

Australian tariffs on finished passenger motor vehicles will be phased out gradually and will be eliminated by 2010. Australia agreed to eliminate the five per cent duty on other vehicles, including off-road vehicles and goods carrying vehicles from 1 January 2005.
SO there you go...if you are buying from the states go nuts!

I posted that info in the general discussion forum and apparently its tariff free but you might be subject to GST if you spend over 1000 AUS. I'm confused.... :?

If it is made in the USA then it won't attract any duty but it can still be subject to GST. If it is under a $1000 and you have it posted to you you won't pay anything extra including customs clearance fees.
