Hydro Issues

Post by A1 »

Well some may know that since fitting the full hydro steering to the VIT its had issues ......well I managed to get through TT07 and two other weekend wheelings till the pump shat it self and stalled the donk after the pump got that hot it seized ....still worked when it cooled down but as soon as it heats up I loose all steering...

I have since got a PSC motorsports Pump from the U.S for it and now have fitted it all up for this weekend of wheeling thats planned .....BUT its now all installed (modded factory brkt ) I have an external resivoir would hold atleast 1.5ltrs ......the pump seems to be cavitating ....?? when it gets near full lock the belt squeels it tits off even though its tight ........

The pump is ported to flow apparently about 1600psi and 4.5 gallons per minute ( I did convert this a while ago to ltrs but have since forgotten the figure  and cant be fawked doing it again  ) .........I am no hydro let alone power steering guro or anything of that matter anyone have any ideas ....

1 thing I did do is a no no (maybe) and mixed atf with ...purpose power steer fluid .....could this be it ??? the reason I did this was because the PSC info instructs not to use ATF ....but power steer fluid ....?? being a lazy fawk I didnt drain the entire system ...would of been some still in the ram and lines ....( the tank was dry when filled )

Did you write to the PS staff asking for ATF or PS fluid to use .. and if you mix 'em could be fine or not ..

IMOP could be a no problem if uou mix it in smaill prop .. but I'm not an expert ..

I'd increase your tank size and how big are your line's from tank to pump.
sounds like pump is pumping faster them what it can get oil from the tank.

Suction line needs to be as short and straight as possible, and the bigger the better, drill the guts out of the fittings and/or port on the reservoir if needs be. Give me a call dude!
