standard and long range fuel tank sierra '92

Post by BAD70Y »

Hi all
1) how many liters in a standard fuel tank?
2) I have a long range fuel tank to put into my Sierra, do I use a standard fuel gauge sender in it?

(My fuel gauge has never worked properly so I will need to get a new sender!)

Thanks, Aaron

1) 38-40 litres. Mine has a few good dents in the bottom and only holds 28L.
2)Wouldn't know without seeing it. Longrange tanks are aftermarket and can vary quite a bit.

ARB do the 70L ones and they use the orig sender but you have to lengthen the rod that measures the fuel level.

i have o long range but mine doesnt work so i asked arb about it. they said he original one works semi accurate as in u might go the first 200k with the needle on full and then i starts to move or the needle might sit on empty and u still have 20L left in the tank. u can get to know how your one works after a while.

Looks like it takes the stock Suzi sender (probably bent to suit).

I got the longranger in mine and had a fiddle with the sender unit recently..

http://www.pointnshoot.org/modules.php? ... =0&thold=0

stock unit been reoriented into the side of the new tank, had to fiddle a little with the angle of dangle and so on, but much better now. Although it doesn't seem to link to the low fuel light at all... or else it trips lower then the current "empty" position of the sender unit.

btw, tuogh tank and sit up tigh nicely... finally dinged mine on track 3 of Tough Tracks at Bestbrook... damn rock :bad-words:
