4.6 - t700

Post by Jam-Pony »

If this has already been answered then please just point me in the right direction.

Is there an adapter kit for a 4.6 short motor to a t700?

Can it be done?

How much?

Is it worth the hassle?

Thanks

What are you adapting the t700 to?, Normally its a chev to ZF adapter, but it shouldn't be hard to make one the other way around, could probably flip a chev to zf one and mod it a little.

As Damien said you may be able to reverse a chef to RR adapter but a lot will depend on what transfer you plan to run ?

It already has a LT230 transfer adapted to it.

I dont know where they come from but if it is the same as a turbo 350 adaptor I have one sitting on the floor waiting for a new home (Scrap metal most likely) Pay for shipping and its yours. Came out of an 88 classic I parted out.

t400/t700 adaptors

Post by 360rangie »

Marks 4x4 do the adaptors for these and have the speed sensor kits and can supply the ECU for the 4L80E for carby modelled veh's.

Also Castlemaine rodshop and Dellow do the adaptors aswell.

Just jump onto thier site and send them an email and they'll send you out a quote for what you want with a catalogue.

Marks don't do a t700, they only do a 4l80e, which is the american heavy duty box (like a 4 speeed t400) not the 4l80e thats in commodores

If you are still looking for an adaptor, I was speaking to a guy who says he does them.

It is Rova Centre down at Skye (near Frankston). Ask for Dave,

adaptor

Post by Hally »

I nearly went down this path & I'm glad I didnt
bad points
1 It's heavier than a ZF
2 you have to get an adaptor made up
3 custom drive shafts

good points
1 Its stronger than a ZF?

I used all rover gear on my defender tried to keep custom parts to a low so if I do brake something it can be sourced quite quickly although I have beefed up the ZF & couldn't be happier
defender 110,4.6,auto,36simex,maxidrive everything. "JEEP" your right, I dont understand????
