Rock Cross Elimination Shootout - Grafton - 17th Nov

Post by Strange Rover »

This is the big one I have been waiting to announce. Finally got approval/insurance to allow this to happen.

First time ever in Australia we are going to hold an event where competitors go at it over rockcrawling obstacles head to head in elimination format racing.

This event will be part of the night time action at the WE Rock Australia Finals being held at Grafton Speedway on the 17th November.

The elimination format will consist of a maximum 16 competitors. We start with 8 races of 2 competitors each in an elimination rockcross shootout. The looser is eliminated and the winner continues on. Competitors are eliminated down until we are left two competitors who race head to head to determine the best rockracer in Australia.

One class - one winner.

Guaranteed to produce the most exciting, action packed, hard core 4wd event this country has ever seen.

This will be a big change in direction for us at WE Rock but I think this format will have a massive future.

What do we need to do to enter or qualify or will it be a case of what buggys are left after the shoot out from the WE Rock finals

Yep - the qualification and seeding for the eliminations will be based on the results from the preliminary rounds of the rockcrawling (ie first 6 courses of the rockcrawl)

If there are more competitors than the 16 that want to have a crack at this then we will eliminate them down in some qualifying shootouts first up in the night time show (IE will do this before the Promod and Unlimited Rockcrawl final.)

Im changing the terminology around now...what we used to call the rockcrawling shootout, I will now call the Rockcrawl Final. And we will use the "shootout" name for the Rockcross Elimination.

I reccon there's definately going to be some awesome carnage!

Are the courses going to change between each elimination, so the final one on one is an awesomly impossible course, or will it just be hard anyway and people will just have to keep getting faster and faster!

As i said in the other post, if anyone wants to come check this out and needs a lift from Sydney leaving early AM Friday, send me a PM. Return afternoon Sunday.

My money is on Dave Camp..I think his steering box (good for drifting) and total disregard for self preservation will play a huge roll in the final elimination rounds.

Fawk Yea!!

Spot for???

I would hope that SAM is gonna man up and ride shotgun.

Sam

PS - for the record, in the rockcross there are no spotters on foot cause they will probably get run over. So if spotters want to spot they got to ride shotgun and do it from the passengers seat.

The single seat unlimited guys the spotters will have to spot from the same place as the rest of us...from the grandstands.

Thats if ur bucket holds together? Let alone seans fragile construction... ( body )

I'll definately be fitting the rev limiter for this event....

The results should be quite simple...

The winner should be most reliable fastest skillfull driver/buggy....

This will be tops......

...now if I can just figure out how to get all the steel shot out of my front tyres after the crawling is done... I tell ya, she gets 'interesting' at speed.

300kW LS1 gets going pretty quick! Will certainly test the old brakes out as well. Should be an exciting event to say the least!

Yeah good question Sam K.
Are the spotters in unlimited allowed to do a double entry for there buggys and have a drive aswell.
If Not then this should be an absolute blast to just kick back and watch everyone else going for it out on the coarse.
