Mk manual Triton diesel clutch adjustment

Post by rocgpw »

Good day, all.
I have an MK diesel Triton, with a manual gearbox. While it was new, the clutch would engage when the pedal was only a short way off the floor but now after about 36000 km, the clutch doesn't start to engage until the pedal is a fair way off the floor. The dealer tells me their is no adjustment possible for taking up the slack as the clutch facings wear.
What reasons would there be not to thread the end of the pushrod at the clutch slave cylinder, put a nut and locking nut on it and then adjust the push rod to cause the clutch to take up when the clutch pedal is closer to the floor.
Sorry about the long-winded essay but this clutch pedal travel is annoying.
Thanks, Richard.
