This first meeting will be OK, but once as the power trippers and loud mouths take over it will be like any other hot headed meeting!

I'm going just to watch!

Its a good idea though, as long as they can keep control!!!

Hopefully the association will be able to help furthur the 4x4 sports professionalism, promote equality throughout events and provide advice and guidance to both event coordinators, competitors and other affiliated parties (insurance etc)

I not saying that it won't be handy, i just know how people react when something like this is organised.

I have seen it all before.

thats true, and 4x4ing here in s/e qld seems to be in "groups" and there are a couple of groups that seem the think they are better than others and like adrian states doesnt allow others to voice there opinions.

Okay, as Scott said, much was said. It was more of a preliminary meeting to see if there was interest in forming an association, that much was decided at this stage. There will be a lot of issues such as insuarnce for comps, different standards that will be adopted for vehicle setups, as well as a large centralised knowledge base that people with any sort of questions relating to vehicles/comps, can be asked (I thought this was a great idea). It is planned to be an independant body that will represent it's members (who are more from the competitive world than the touring world, if I can use those terms without offending people or clubs) at the same level as the current existing representative body (QAFWDC) only having more to do with the comp scene than any other form of 4wd/outdoor recreation.

All of the groups were represented, from winch challenge, rock crawling, navigation events, ASCC, and other general senior level 4wd comps. A lot of information is to be tabled over the next few months, and the next meeting is scheduled on Wednesday the 18th of February, 2004.
