My little project
My little project
This started off the be a K.I.S.S. project (keep it simple ) but...... things went a little over board. Run down of parts. Sammy frame, sky's wrangler swap, SPRING UNDER, toy axles, rear e-locker front lock right, 4.10 gears, 6.4:1 t-case 34x10.5x15 LTB swampers, toy high steer, rebuilt front axle with longfields, TLC vented rotors,v6 calipers, gusseted front housing. 99 Tracker 16 valve motor with 2wd tranny. Flexed pic has 21" under tire before lifting the other front tire rear was not even close to coming up yet. Building this to drive to the local trails instead of trailering, (that gets old) Hope to have the drivetrain in in the next cuople weeks. Then the body.

Couple of questions -
I am interested in clearances with the toyota front end -
How much compression travel are you planning?
Is that the final layout of the ubolt plate?
How are you going to set up bumpstops?
how is the clearance between the drag link and the chassis when compressed?
I guess these are all related questions, but I haven't seen a toyota axle used SPUA before.

1. U blots plate if welded and done final position
2. Don't know compression till I get the drivetrain and body on
3. Haven't put the steering on yet to check clearances
4. I haven't seen anybody do a toy in SPUA yet either, until now LOL
I will keep this thread updated as things progress a little more, should have steering box and links in a couple days. Then drivetrain.

I like to see SPUA buildups because they are relevant for what works down here, and I get sick of sierra builds all being based around a SPOA stance.

I started this build the the thought of being low and stable, I have had the spoa lifts with the 33" tire and they do ok but most of the terrain around here is wooded trails and mud. I also have a toyota that I use for rock crawling, I just wanted to go back to the "more" basics of when we all started and had little rigs, I had a blast with my first rig which only had a 2" shackle lift with 28" tire. Thanks for the "war" guy's I will keep you updated as things get done

sweet build mate...its looking good...i'm doing a similar thing well not really...but SPUA and 34" LTBs anyway...an american not doing SPOA...unheard of!!!

Nice build up ddog87, You posted up that you went with the mighty Kong transfer case setup, have you added any extra strengthening to the mounts that they mount onto on the Chassis...? If you do or have some pics would be good as well......

The mounts I have are the Gorilla grips for the Mighty Kong.
