TD42 inline (not rotary) injector-pump fuelling screw

G'day all.

I've got a ex-Cyprus high-roof LWB GQ here in the UK, which, just FYI, looks a lot like a Safari, except it's a 12v, non-turbo car, with none of the Safari toys.

Whilst it's much the same as a 'normal' GQ in most regards, it's got a Zexel inline injector pump, not a rotary, so most of the info around doesn't apply.
I've googled, searched on here, and most other forums, with little joy.

Has anyone got any info on these inline pumps; specifically, which the fuelling screw is, and which way does what. I'm fairly sure (!) I'm right, but confirmation would be good!

Anything would be much appreciated :)

I got a Cyprus model too. Standard roof but it has the Rotary pump. I didn`t know Zexel made an inline pump. I know it is all Bosch anyway.


Is your pump like the one in SD 33?

Odd.
The only car I know of ex-Cyprus has an inline too, but that's in the UK.

Yup, it's all Bosch, as you say, but I can't find much about them at all.

TBH I don't know what an SD33 pump looks like; I assume that's a Zexel inline, then?...

On the back of the pump, towards the middle of the car, towards the bottom of the pump itself is a screw with a lead-sealed anti-tamper cover; IMVHO, this is the fuelling screw?
The only other screw that's similar (ie apparently adjustable) is higher and towards the outside, and that looks like being idle speed?

Assuming I'm right about the fuelling screw, I assume clockwise will increase the fuelling?...

What is the nut/screw next to the Zexel plate for, JOOI?

can't help with fuel screw but this pump comes out on fork trucks with same motor :cool:

FYI, Zexel are a company which make alot of products under license from other manufacturers, such as Calsonic, Bosch etc

I'd be suprised if any of the rotary pumps are actually made by Bosch themselves.

AFAIK the inline pumps are diesel-kiki products?

Yes that is prolly true Yom. I think Bosch just bought em all over. Bosch though are the World leaders in fuel injection as far as sales and clout are concerned.

That Pump looks similar to sd33. Mine is the Rotary one. My truck was bought in Cyprus in 94 and brought over to UK as new. Some say the inline pump is better?

I imagine Dzltec will correct me if I'm wrong, but from what little I've read, inline pumps are (very broadly) more like pumps from small trucks, and can handle SVO a lot easier, for example.

Eg:
"Inline Diesel pumps are the Holy Grail for Vegetable oils use!"

If i could stuble across an inline pump for a td42 id be happy as a pig in mud/ Perfect for wvo conversions. SHHH
