what does that have to do with it? We aren't talking about the Sierra we are talking about the Jimny. Also if you notice they don't sell the Sierra anymore because in the end it wasn't selling enough models either.

You guys want to know why the diesel Jimny doesn't come to Australia ? Because the engine in it is made by Renault and they are as UNRELIABLE as engines get. I reckon Reanults are worse than Land Rovers for reliability (trust me, I see heaps of them every day and I know many many people who have owned Renaults and come to regret it), and Suzuki New Caledonia don't even bring them here because of this despite the fact they could get them from France.
In actual fact, bringing Renault diesel powered Jimnys into Australia would just tarnish Suzuki's reputation for reliability.

cheers,
I reckon that about hits the nail on the head! Anything Renault is crap.
French engineering is weird at the best of times but Renault have always been a mechanics nightmare. These new diesels aren't wet sleeved too. Are they?

Yep, if my memory serves me correctly, they're an aluminium block with sleeved cylinders.
Renaults are THE PITS for reliability. Besides, since the Peugeot 505 went out of production, I wouldn't buy a French car if my life depended on it !

On top of that, diesel Jimnys are built in Spain and even the petrol ones have had major reliability issues whereas the Japanese made ones are as tough as nails.

Ask some nissan owners, yes try have problems too. As for the jimny numbers yes alot more than I thought. Queensland sales alot more than vic I heard. Part of those numbers would be in company cars too security and melbourne water use them down here. I would be so pissed if I got one as a company car. Diesel Jimnys it's not going to happen.

grimbo if you were using some of that common sence you spoke about before you would find both the jimny and sierra are in the same market sector. eg swb, 4wd live axles fr and Rr transfer, handles like shit, you know, along with rocky's, Scats most live axle swb real 4WD's jimny is going to the same grave as the rest of them cause Australia is soft.

Rocky Road do a Kit. VW 1.6 td golf motor. Kit is about $950aud. If the motor cost you $2500 + another 1-2 grand for bits n pieces and rego , it would still work out cheaper than selling your Zook and getting a Jimny.
I'd like a diesel Jimny but I don't see me buying one even if they are available. And five Grand buys a lot beer and petrol. ;)
