Hilux locker?

Sorry I know this topic has been smashed, but each post I have read turns out to be a slug fest between people on manual vers air and lokka vers ARB etc..

So please keep this simple. I don't want to spend much money on my 88 2.4d hilux. But I want to actually get somewhere when I three wheel. What should I buy? Neither difs have any locking ability atm. I am happy to spend around $500 on a manual locker, so what should I get/do ?

how often do u go dirt compard to road driving? if you spend most time dirt then weld the rear and put a lockrite the frnt. if you do alot of road driving jus put a lockrite in the back. or if u gt some time get a detroit from the states for the bak. i run a limo rear and a detroit fnt works realy well. hope this helps

Lockrite is a great locker for a 33" tire. If your not hard on it you maybe ok with 35"s. Like Big Lux said how much time are you out wheeling and what kind of wheeling do you do. If your out allot and are planning on being rough on your rig then I would say go with a Detroit. Plus if you go with a heavier locker now you wont have to spend the money later to upgrade it when you go with bigger tires.

Cheers for the replies so far. I mainly use it for camping and road etc. I run 33's maxxis muddy things. But I do a bit of 4wd still, though I am very light on the pedal and look after my 88 lux as good as I can.
Are lockers cheaper from the states and if so what is a good option and what sites can I get them from?
I would rather not weld the rear as I do a lot of highway travel and street travel.

yea if you do alot of road driving jus put a detroit or lockrite in the rear or you could up yur budget a little and get an air locker. a detroit in the bak in da rain can be a little unpredictable i used to have mine in da back. check out this site http://www.trail-gear.com/toy-lockers.html hope it helps you. are you installing it?

good aussie dollar = good to buy frm the states champ. but its genraly cheaper most of the time anyway jus the amount that changes. arb airlocker for lux 800aus from states.

Turbz I emailed this bloke above the other day getting a price on a powertrax lockright for the rear of my 4runner, quote was under $400.00 delivered. I have already fitted one of these to the front of mine very easy. Hope this helps
