As many will know the Feroza doesn't have an active idle speed control system - just a small solenoid that bleeds some extra air when certain electrical loads are on and a power steer air valve.
This was just ok when manual and fairly stock, but with an auto, large electric fans and a bigger alternator it would sometimes stall when the fans started and it was in drive.... bugger.
looked at extra electric solenoids to add to the fast idle - but they were too small and didn't provide any adjustability.
And then the "little bell" rang - a few Applauses had an extra valve on the plenum of the intake manifold. Turns out to be a vacuum operated, adjustable idle up valve. It has about a 5mm air circuit so flows heaps. A small solenoid ( now connected into the fan circuit ) switches the valve and this provides a very large idle up adjustment range. There is a finger adjustment on the valve so its dead easy to set.
Now the idle is maintained perfectly when the fans switch in and out. This could be used to correct for a winch or driving lights etc etc.....
The idle up valve and controlling solenoid can be removed from the donor Appluase and arn't hard to fit as the hole in the manifold is already there.

Maintaining Feroza idle speed
( usual disclaimers )
It seemed like a much better idea when I started it than it does now.
