80 series 1HDT tacho

Post by jsttry »

Car is back with a shiny new radiator.

Next problem is tacho is intermittent. You hit the brakes and it drops down, sometimes to 0rpm. Still drives fine and no spluttering that you'd expect if it was an injector pump issue. Suspect some water has gotten into the connections somewhere as the driver floor was wet. Other than the connector on the pump, any one know where the wires would route to save me looking in the service manual?

I would have expected lights etc wouldn't have worked if that was the case. Will check it out though. Driving home tonight tacho ended up sitting on 0rpm unless getting over approx 2000rpm (based on listening to engine) when it would raise to no more than 400rpm on the dial. definately looks like an elec fault somewhere. Just wait for the rain to finish so I can go look

just checked, both batteries appear OK and all connections at the terminals and body are clean.

Checked service manual and tacho just says that it goes to pick-up sender. Where is this located?
