Pin / Eye shock adaptors.

Post by GUEEY »

Two years ago i saw some screw on adaptors at the 4X4 show that converts top pin shocks to a eye fitting.
it was a good way of adapting longer 80 series shocks to fit GQ/GU Patrols.
Then when it is time to replace the shock the adaptor could be unscrewed and fitted to the replacement shock.
does anyone know were these are available from??

Cheers

huh? its easier to get long eye to eye shocks than it is to get pin to eye.

80's are pin to pin front pin to eye rear, i made adaptors so i had eye to eye all round cos it was easier to get long shocks for

The idea was to run a 80 Series off the shelf rear shock that you can buy anywhere, on a Patrol. The increased dampening is also a bonus.

The increase in length suita a 3 inch lift with corresponding bumpstop spacing.

Anybody know if the BBM ones listed on their website are supplied as a pair or if the price listed is per single item?

Broke another shock today :bad-words: :bad-words: :bad-words: ...but have a spare set, only need an adaptor to fit 'em.

You are correct, now Darren at Auto Craft, and all the ASSASSIN OFFROAD parts are available, as well as many other brands.

We had the screw on eyes 2 years ago at the 4x4 show, but have moved to having suitable shocks made, in the lengths and valving required, the eyes were really just a R & D measure, to test lengths and valving configurations, and we were able to make the eyes in different lengths, so we could tune the length of shock while testing as well.

Some eyes added up to 70mm to the length of the shock, and we also made pin adaptors to add 70mm as well as now making threaded adaptors for our FOX bolt on kits, so they go from eye to pin, for front of cruiser and patrol.

By adjusting the lengths we could make the shock as long as it could be within the compressed length vs distance between mounts on compression on the car to check spring captive lengths, sway bar length requirements, as wella s brake line measurements, and all the other things required to run more travel.

We now have 615mm, 670mm and 700mm fronts for cruiser and patrol, as well as 670mm, 700mm, and 735mm for rear of cruiser and patrol, and 785mm with new plates to convert top of cruiser to bush, to stop side loading the shafts with all the extra travel in the rear.

No good selling straight sub $100 parts to a customer who becomes cranky when his shocks have bottomed, or coils fell out, and wonders why no one told him it might happen ;)
