Spotlights
I have a LWB GQ Diesel and it only happens sometimes but when i put hi beam on with the spotties the cd player cuts out but it doesnt happen on just hi beam without the spotties. The previous owner has wired the uhf up to the cigarette lighter and the uhf also cuts outs when i put hi beam on with the spotties on.
Getting stressed cause cant find the problem so does anyone have any idea on what the problem could be

well the cd player which was fitted about 2months ago and the earth is directly to the body, I also tried putting a jumper lead from the bull bar to the battery and it still cuts outs
Also whilst i was trying the different options i had the hi beam on with the spotties as well as the radio and then after about 5minutes the radio cut out but that happened when the car was turned off.
The radio still cuts out when driving along with hi beam on, The spotties have been wired up using 1 of those IPF wiring looms and the spotties have 100 watt globes in them.
So im getting pissed off about the whole problem.

you could hardwire the cd player and uhf direct to the battery, then u can use them when the car is turned off, and because they wont be connected to the accesories they should not cut out... just remember to make sure you turn them off when you get home and leave the car overnight... else you may not be going to work on time the next day

check and / or replace the fusable links from the battery
where do the spotties get there power from , i would get there power strait from the battery
do you have a multimeter these make life a lot easier to diagnose faults
could also upgrade your head light loom with thicker wire and get the main power strait from the battery , and just use the factory plug for swithing the relays between hi and low beam
but first i would check the fusable links and clean , crimp tighter etc to get a good connection also with your headlights on, feel the fuses to see if they get hot , there may be a bad connection to the fuse itself

well i think i solvd the problem the spotties were getting the power from a thing under neath the black cover beside the main battery on the GQ and the thing has 4 little terminals on it and once i disconnected it from there and got the power from the battery it has stopped now.
Does anyone know what that little thing is for.
