hmm. jackeroo late models had prety good motor's. but it took em a long time to get right. and the transfer case hangs to low.

So i'd say pajero very strong drivline, good motors and proven.

Pajero wins hands down. Will go everywhere the fat ugly big boys go, and do it in comfort and wont break parts either.

I think the Jackaroo has the better chassis/suspension for offroading.

But when it came to day to day driving, I'd choose a coil rear end Pajero. Much, much nicer car inside and out.

I reckon it comes down to what you personally like. We liked the the look of the Pajero but didn't like the way it felt driving it, but the Jack feels better to drive in our humble opinion

The ISUZU's are a much better engineered 4WD.

the geometry allows much easier mods!! and is not targeted at MUM going to get the shopping!!! :lol:

Well depends what you want it for i reckon. For a tourer there probably both just as good as each other. The 3.1 TD Jacks had some issues with reliability though.
It'll come down to what you like and dislike driving each vehicle.
Paj has a great reputation and are good off road. And with some mods they can easily mix it with the Big two.

What's "better engineered" in the Jackaroo? Precisely how does the geometry allow easier mods? Which mods?

Precisely who was the Jackaroo targeted at? Oh, hang on. Most road reports of the day seemed to think the Jackaroo was the better vehicle, but the Pajero still dominated the sales - so I guess the Jackaroo wasn't targeted at anybody. :lol:

i ran a 3.1 jack for years and i took some serious abuse, avoid the 3.0 litre diesels they have fuel issues (mind you they should be sorted by now) but i reckon if your after a tourer it would do the job very well

OK so they both have pi$$weak IFS front ends,

BUT the isuzu has 1.3" or HUGE 1.5" rear axles DAMN they are as big as DANA60HD or nissan H260. plus the rear links are waaaaay long and very easy to get flex out of if you are creative with shock position. Gboxs and tcases are TUFF as!!

I think I remember reading somewhere that the Isuzu Jackaroo, Trooper, Rodeo, Mu 5spds were manufactured by Aisin for Isuzu, and share allot in common with the Toyota R series gearbox (also made by Aisin). Got a Toyota R151 gearbox for Dads lux to take the torque we are going to be putting through it, although not the best box on earth, they are quite strong.

As for Pajero vs Jackaroo, I don't know much about either. From the little I do know I'd only pick the Isuzu because its been rebaged as a Holden :lol: :? .
Wheeling on completely wicked angles, without even looking stable.

You don't bother. You let them feel really good about ranting and raving -we can be safe in the knowledge of having a good, comfortable and very competant tourer which can follow the big boys and still drive home. :finger:

I had 3.0L V6 Pajero.... there is no way I'd ever buy one again. They may be nice when new but IMHO the engine/ driveline is built to last 250 000km tops. After that prepare to spend up. Talk to the 4x4 wreckers if you don't believe me.

maybe, just meens pajero's are hear for a good time not a long time.

not alot of other v6's go far over 300,000k's
