Anyone got an XL-7 they've modded?

Post by murcod »

:? I know I'm a bit "out of place" posting about a late model Suzuki, but I was wondering if anyone here has got one- and what they've done to "improve" it.

I know it's lacking in the suspension department and underbody protection area, so am after ideas. ;)

 Wow, some of those ones in the above pics are a bit more "extreme" than I could have imagined possible!

Squik- well done on the magazine spread. Is there much in common between your X90 and a 2004 XL-7 mechanically (ie. suspension)?

But an XL-7 is a stretched Vitara :? I thought maybe there would be some mechanical similarities?

A12 have you got pics/ details (apart from your signature :) )

Have you done much underneath to protect under the engine- or does your bull bar go under far enough? The standard plastic tray is lame and a waste of time.

:) I take it Fordy1 here = ODA1 on 4WD Monthly forum? I didn't realise you're the same person.

I'd noticed them on Ebay and they look excellent- but the issue is I live in Adelaide and they're in QLD? :(

Actually and XL-7 is a stretched Grand Vitara and the parts like arms and the like ( 5 link rear end in GV, 3 link Aframe in a Vitara )are different.
You can put coils and shocks/struts across but because of the weight difference stock GV stuff lifts a Vitara, so putting Vitara stuff in a GV should work the other way.

This is what my one looked like before I sold it

BINGO!!!!!!

at the moment if you want it i would send it free freight as it has been sitting here for 6months.... :?

scratch that, i just measured the seconed plate and it is over a metre long so i could not send on aust post ( box 1.4 long x 10 cme tall )

i would be happy to drop the price $40 if you can look after freight...

I imagine the freight would be a killer and the finances aren't too flash at the moment due to just having bought it.

Toecutta, thats for the info. I didn't realise there was more to it than just a simple name added on over a normal Vitara.
