1.6L mpfi intake on 1.3L carb

Post by Hybrid »

I know this is a big ask but is there any chance the 1.6L mpfi intake manifold will bolt to the old sierra 1.3 carb motor? I think I read something about it ages ago but I'm not too sure what the outcome was and I can't find the thread. I ask because I'm going giving a megasquirt a shot and I'd prefer mp over tb injection.

i did a 1.6 mpfi complete engine conversion in my old zook, your much better of doin the whole conversion imho for the bigger power gains, and the inlet manifold is totally different bolt pattern. the tbi from memory will bolt on.

Will the G16 TBI throttlebody fit on the g13 carb intake or will i need to get the complete throttlebody/intake manifold?

if its single point injection you will need the inlet manifold etc, just make sure the manifolds are the same stud pattern.

(even if you could) by the time you had fitted the EFI vit manifold, injectors, loom, O2 sensor, fuel rail & reg, tuned it to work with the much more restrictive head and less capacity, etcetcetc, you woudl have been far better off going with the G16 to start with.

You could try swapping the whole head to the SOHC 16V 1.6 head, but to get everything you needed I think it would come with a 1.6 bottom end too.

The TBI swap might work, but I think you will need the intake manifold too.

You can buy an adapter for a swift 1.6 cpi to go straight onto the sj manifold. the hard bit is playing with electrics and mounting the fuel pump.
The mpi manifold onto the sj 8 valve head is just too hard and the 16 valve head requires 16v pistons all costly
