4 Point Harness

Was looking at some harnesses last week "SAAS" brand, 4 point for $119 each

would these be sufficent for use in a weekend warrior

are there any other deals out there which are better priced?

16mm dia rod, bent in to a |_| , two holes through the cab, plated both sides and bolted down x 4

for the 2 straps per seat

or is this bad?

or maybe a double sliding rear window and pass the straps though

cause there is something saying the straps need to be in a certain spot in relation to the top of the seat isn't there :?:

the part behind the seat has to be within a certain angle range, if it is too vertical (which I think it would be in a hilux) it'll crush yer spine in a big impact...

I would be retaining the standard belts for all the normal, the 4 point is just for the "GET IT" bit

if you can't read the labels properly, they say"
shoulder belts
10 degrees (recommended)
45 degrees (maximum)
lap belts
between 5 and 30 degrees from horizontal.

Why couldn't you do a similar thing but instead of coming up threw the floor, have it so it comes threw the back of the cab!!

Just below the window!!

How about cutting in a couple of vents (the louvred ones with flaps) to pass the straps through just under the window?

Just below the window is slightly too low. it realy needs to go through the window about 2" up. Thats how it is on mine anyway.

Im prob going to get a lexan rear screen made and have 2 holes cut in it with some grommets around the belt to seal it. Its only a flat screen so it shouldnt be too expensive.

Im not sure on the legalities of using Lexan for a rear window. I will be checking this before i do it.

how can it crush your spine if its passed through the holes in the seat? wouldnt the down force be the same? just wouldnt be able to hold you as good if it were mounted in the lower areas they've shown.

Tony thats how im doing mine, just cutting some slots where the belt will pass through the bottom of the window which will be perspex. ( I think there only funny about the front window but let us know ) I have a Simpson 5 point that is a wrap around mounting that i used in my streeter.
Sounds like you need to find someone like a sign writer that has access to perspex

I'm not sure about the spine crushing...
but there's warnings about the chair breaking in half if the harness is positioned wrongly.. I guess that could lead to a crushed spine..

the holes in the seat are only for convenience, I think? I am pretty sure they are not structural at all....

Don't use Acrylic sheet (Perspex), it is too brittle, the holes that you cut for the straps will crack out and the screen will 'craze' over time due to exposure to UV. High impact Acrylic is available, but is brittle also and will shatter into shards similar to non toughened glass.

Better to use Lexan (Polycarbonate sheet), this has a UV blocker on one side (no more sunburnt neck :lol:

) , and is much more resiliant to damage and UV.

ah i see.

could you just bolt it to the floor behind the seat and make up a bracket that mounts higher up on the back of the cab to direct the force more backwards than down? if that makes any sense at all.

how about running a rail across the cab just behind the seat and run the strap up from the floor mount and then over the rail at the height you want then over your shoulders.

I thought harnesses were crap how do you put your head out of the window to see were your wheels are if your straped in

The 82 hilux I got has a perspex rear window and its gone pooy brown and skanky looking from the sun

Just had a funny thought on the window net issue - BJ is gonna need a roll of that mesh the council use around their construction works for the amount of cage he has to cover, and a couple of those strobing amber lights for BLING...
