has anyone put a 1HZ diesel motor (preferably turboed) into a BJ 73 ?
if so what needs to be changed
my BJ 73 has a 2,5'' + 33'' tyres + winch bar + 9,000lb warne winch.
the 3B motor died shortly after a good days driving and i am having trouble finding a replacement for it.

it had its original motor in it when we brought it. i went through a puddle my boyfriend drove over (80 with 5'' lift). out the back of angelsea and had a little trouble getting out. i did drive it out maybe a little to hard. 2 days later she spat a welsh plug and developed a death rattle. our machanic said it can be rebuilt if we cant do or find what we are looking for. oh yeah the puddle had a bit of a right angel to it.
the puddle in question is at the start of the track on the left hand side of the proving ground on gumflat road. i think thats what the road is called. the track follows the left hand boundry fence. i did not follow it all the way as i am still detting used to the shorter wheel base
thankyou for the advice guys i will look into it

I totally agree with this. I have a 14B non turbo (will be turbo soon) in my midi a great engine. The 13bt is a great little engine as well. The good thing about the 13B & 14B is that they are direct injection. They both 13BT & 14BT engines bolt straight in. You will need to do a return fuel line back to the tank as the 3B does not have one, not hard to do though, I did this to mine.. If you can find a wrecked 13BT you could unbolt the tank and lines off it and bolt it all straight up to yours. Bits and pieces swap between the 3B 13B &14B so it make the conversion very easy.plowy wrote:stuff the 13bt go a import 14bt
sms diesels prices start from 4 g and get more power from it thwn the 1hz
To fit a 1HZ, you will need to cut and move the engine mounts and you will need a H series gearbox. The B series box has a different length input shaft.
Cheers.

ive done the 1hz swap was a great swap and well worth it, you need to change input shafts on the gear box, get a 1hz bellhousing and machine it down, and engine mounts from hjz75 of the chassis these just bolt to the motor drop the motor in tack weld then pull the motor weld fully, i also used the 1hz rad, and fuel filters everything bolts on use the the 1hz p/s lines will bolt straight up to you ps box, pm me for more info i cant remember right now
HZJ73, lifted, crawler gears, double locked, sitting on 35's
