NATMAP 250K and OZIExplorer

Post by me3@neuralfibre.com »

Does anyone know how to easily import the Natmap maps into Oziexplorer (It's supposed to be possible).

Alternately is there a way to get a GPS to work with Natmap Raster Viewer?

Thanx

You can buy 250k natmaps precalibrated to use with Oziexplorer, PM Navrun off here, he should be able to help you out. You can calibrate Natmaps yourself, check the online help in Ozi, I couldn't be bothered and just got them precalibrated.

Some advice if you want it, get yourself a set of Topo maps to use with Ozi, much better detail and IMHO easier to use. We have used them in numerous comps and navruns and have always found them the best. Then switch to a Natmap when covering an area greater than the size of a map.

What type do you have topo or the map sheets?

topo I'm guessing?

You export the map of the area your after, you'd need a laptop to handle a full topo map as a PDA or GPS just won't have enough gigs to hold the map plus it'll die on it's arse anyway.

Then you simply import it into oziexplorer.

I've got the Topo natmps.

So there is no easy way to just get basically all of Australia at 1:250K into Oziexplorer in a single map?
Laptop has plenty of grunt / space.

Yep but that would be one HUGE map/file ie <3Gb

There is the .map files available for download on the net for the multiple maps.

Import them & there is no need for one single file.

A simple google would have found them too.
