do i need to spend up on shocks??????!!!!!!!!
ok, i'm after some new shocks. it's on a hzj 75 with custom springs(longer and softer leafs, about 4in above stock). It's not a daily driver(mainly used for hill climbs, ect on weekends) but still does a couple of trips every year so it still needs to be able to drive ok up the hwy(just ok!!). it's probably your average weekend warrior truck(turboed, susp+body,hi-mount, air locked on 36 pedes). i don't do comps or really have any intention to do them short term. do i really need to go all out with shocks like everyone seems to be or am i going to be better off running some half decent shocks like bilstein 5150's and saving some money insted of spending up on something that will prob be a waste on my current set up. currently i have ome shocks and they limit my spring travel(downwards travel) as i have played with my springs alot and they work very well. eventually (prob within 24 months)it will do a link susp set up but i currently don't have the time to do it.
any thoughts or recomendations appreciated........................................................... i'm confused!!!

Mate if your prepared to pay for some Bilsteins (plenty of people whinge about paying for shocks half the price of them) go for it! They are a tough as nails monotube shock and have the advantage of being rebuildable if and when required! I could help you out with a set if your interested, but i don't where Diamond Creek is but i'm pretty sure its not near Canberra!

I went cheapish originally with the 40 and just put some Skyjackers in (got them for $75ea)......they rode ok, and the lengths were good for the custom 4" spring packs I'm running......However in the search for some more travel and a better ride, I just got some 12" travel bilstein 5125s from the boys at Locktup4x4 ($142ea delivered to my door, i think the price may change with the aussie dollar)....So am keen to see if there is an improvement with ride with stepping up to a quality shock. The yanks certinley rave about the 5125s on leaf sprung trucks but, so these might be an option for you.

ok!! i just measured up my shock lengths and i will be borderline for travel with a 12" if i allow a little bit for big hits so i'm gonna go 14". i need 400mm (16" i think??!!) compressed length. i don't think it's gonna happen. looks like i'll have to make some shock hoops. spewin, didn't want to have to. now i can go the 6100's if i do hoops, so there is an upside. i think i'd prefer them because they are rebuildable and i'm pretty sure 5150's aren't. does anyone run these??? does anyone know another shock i should be looking at??????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
