I cant make it free for everyone !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sellers are going to be mainly stationary , displaying what they have for sale , so they are not likely to be doing much in the way of driving , hence no charge. Also the more that come and show what they have for sale , the more that come to look and buy. Depending how things go there may be introduced a fee to come and sell ($10 or similar) but for now we will start off free for sellers to get the ball rolling. Buyers can come and go and drive around at their leisure. At the end of the day I still have to pay the bills to keep this venue open. If you just want to come for a browse for a couple of hours and dont want to pay full park day fees , remember we do a half day rate after 1pm (we always have done) Its $10 for the vehicle and $5 per Adult after 1pm. (kids under 16 y/o are still free)
Cheers
PS If anyone wants free entry to this I have some places vacant for a few site officials. Call 0424568886.

I dont understand what you mean..........
I thought the post was to throw it out there and see what is said , I am open to comment , but no-one from here came up with the idea , it came from the pro-active Jeep forum.
I have posted this on 5 other forums , and there is discussion about different aspects of the idea on each of them , bar 2.
Outerlimits is not the center of the 4wd universe , actually lots of people are moving away from Outers for various reasons but I posted it here anyway to see what people think.
As for the prices , free for sellers and day prices for buyers , I thought was fair considering the outlay I have , but it may change. If people stop being negative and , start being positive and saying things like , 'Well we have a group of 5-10 cars and would like to come for the afternoon , but wont because we think the price should be lower for buyers' then I may think harder about it , but im not going to lower the prices unless people are coming and I can work out a way that some of those people dont take advantage of the situation and just go driving around the park. These are just my thoughts , common peoples , WHAT DO YOU THINK !! ?

Pete it definitely has potential but a couple of small problems that I can see straight up (this is in opinion only) is……….
* I think it is to often. It may work out bigger and better if held once every 3 months.
* I don't feel that it should be held within the park itself (maybe at the house block at main road) because to do this yes you need to chare park entry fees (at least to the buyers) and I can't see people being to keen (those that purely want to browse/buy and DO NOT wish to 4wd) to pay $25 to enter on the odd chance they may buy something - that is after all $25 less to spend at the stalls.
* Now you will get people that say they are going to sell something just to get into the park for free - as in somebody rocks up in a stocko GQ and says they are selling it (and will put $25K price tag on it). They gain free entry into park and then go 4wding for free and should you question them about it they may say that they are showing the car to the potential buyer in the passenger seat (who is their mate).
Like I said personally I think it is a great idea but would hold it at house area at main road and would hold it once every 3mths (or similar) so that you get something like 300 people turn up once every 3mths rather than 20-50 people show up once a month. Would also work well when done like all other swap meets where you mark out sites, charge $10 per site to sellers and then each adult browser/buyer pays $2 entry fee.

Some really good points there Linc. This line of discussion has been raised on another forum too.
I am currently moving from the house at the round-a-bout , into the Park , the office is now on the dirt road in so holding it back there is not an option , although it would have been ideal.
I thought that once a month would suit because its easy to remember like monthly club meetings and other markets are held monthly. Also some people want to sell stuff and make some extra dough , they wont wait for 2 or 3 months , but if they knew there was a market in 2 , 3 or 4 weeks time they would get things organised. I agree that not everyone would come every month , but a date to remember of an easy frequency was my idea.
As for price its looking like it may drop to $5 per person , seller or buyer , with maybe a fee if you sell your car or some parts , not sure of that yet. I am hoping to have 4 people who will volunteer and get in for free that will share the manning of the entry to camps 4 and 5 (comp area) and use different coloured stickers for buyers and sellers and park guests so we know who is supposed to be where. I have no issue of a seller bringing his car in and using the comp track to test drive the car on for prospective buyers , but only the area in and around camp 5 and the comp area. If they are found outside that area (and you dont need a map to see the extent of that area) then they will be asked to pay full park fees on top of the $5 per person paid for the market entry. If you want to wheel in the park pay the fees at the office and get free entry into the market or do the right thing and just stay in the right place until you want to leave. Im sure some will just come to the market and pay the $5 per head just to play in the comp area , but thats ok , I can accept that. Its like swings and kids playground in a park , its there so use it.
Any thoughts

Yeah, $1000 per acre sounds good.
Looks like you are trying to prop-up a selling price and the public are the intended "bunnies"!
Why does it affect you either way? After all you are the wood duck that is not going to buy a house right so it is not like this would concern yourself in any way

I also think link has some good points, esp not holding it so oftern.
unless you expect it to be as big as rocklee markets or cara markets thats fine.. but take a look at other very succesful markets,& see what they do,,
sometimes less is better,EG forestlake markets free entry, every sunday & now starting to lack stalls, Burligh markets free entry last sun of each month
has twice as many stalls,& 3times as many customers,Broadbeach the same, but different date,,dont get us wrong, what your doing is good, but we all want to see it succede,& not fizzel out after 6mnths, I dont know if you have the space, but what if you held it at a start as a free marketjust outside the gates,& each person that entersthe market gets a wrist starm,& this is to gain them a discounted entryfee into the park,,as it grows, move it then charge entry

Guys Im sorry , but its impossible to hold anything for free , I have to cover the cost of lots of thing , mainly insurance and who evers land I use , mine or someone else's. It just cant happen for free. As for out side the park , as I said before , I am moving , I cant use the land at the old office any more , there are new tennants here in the main house. All the land from the round-a-bout to the cattle grid just before the new office is owned by Boystown and they currently have no interest in talking to me about using it because too many people have been going off the road and doing donuts and hitting cattle (killing 2) and crashing thru fences. Actually this has caused them to complain to council which has caused us some grief , but I think its sorted. It just cant happen outside the park , and I cant control it inside , specially not for free , I have to eat.

Gee your quick to jump to conclusions.
The Idea was to add something different to the park , something new , never done. A market wouldnt work at the other parks , too far away. People wouldnt lugg a trailer full of bits just for a day market 2-3 hours away. As for the comment about 'I have to eat , I mean that I dont do anything for nothing. If I wanted to do that I would go on the dole and sit on my arse all day. If I work I expect to earn money , its a basic principle , my right , if I dont earn money I dont work. So , based on if I put in 1/3 of a day on a Sun toward the markets and 2/3 to the Park then I should be paid accordingly. 1/3 of my wage from the markets and 2/3 from the park , after the bills are covered , mortgage , lease , vehicles , machenery , fuel , outgoings and sundries as well as the big one , INSURANCE. Nothing is free.
Also as I have said many times before in this thread , THERE IS NO-WHERE OUTSIDE THE PARK THAT I CAN HOLD IT. It has to be held inside the park , so the area has to be monitored so people dont take advantage and just drive around.
OK , so my thoughts so far.
Lets just hold one on the 27th of Jan and see if it works. It wont be huge because judging by most peoples attitude they will probably just sit at home and wait and see if it works or not. If there is enough interest then we will make a date for the next one maybe in a month , maybe two depending on interest. The way I see it if you have something for sale and need the cash , you dont want to wait for 3 months or so , before the next market. That aside lets see if it works , then decide.
Ok lets try the first one at $5 per person (buyers and sellers) for the markets and if you want to go into the park you get whatever you paid off the entry price , but if your caught in the park without paying then you pay the full day fees on top of what you have already paid. It will still be held at camp 5 with the ramp and the comp area open for test drives. I will see if we can get access up past the farm house like it was for the Comps. I will ask MJ's to come with the pie van and someone has asked if they could do a sausage sizzle for one of the clubs. Bring your unwanted stuff or just come for a look. Say 9am to 4pm. Lets give it a go. If it works and we get a lot of visitors , then I will look at lowering the prices if its successful , but if not then , well it wont happen again or maybe it wont happen as often.
Let me know if you would be interested.
If you just want to insist that it should be free or outside the park , PLEASE dont reply as I will ignore you. Thanks.

If you have stuff for sale then post it up here as a list , no prices. Then people can see what will be at the markets.
I will start.

Pete, I do applaude this idea as it does have potential I think. Getting a sale list on your website would be the first thing I'd do where buyers who are DEFINITELY going to be there post up their goods for all to see. This way you will get people there and if there's something there they really want they will be happy to pay the entry fee to have the chance to check it out and potentially buy it. Personally, living on the north side of brisbane, there's no way I'd travel to your park and pay to browse when there may be nothing I want or no one there. If there was an item I knew would be for sale and I was interested in or had pre-purchased (good place to meet for pick up on items for sale) then I would drive there.
Also, getting more people there (because there is items they want and know will be there) you will attract people to drive for the day in the park whilst they're there. This may allow you to eventually make the market free for just browsers and keep the income to the park up.
From my point of view only and don't take it the wrong way, I have been to your park twice and honestly wasn't really that impressed and have no real desire to drive from the north side to visit it again (mainly distance/enjoyment ratio isn't up there for me. However, it is nonetheless a place to 4wd and there is getting less and less places to go. If there was a new car or accessory I wanted to buy I would be willing to travel and if I could have a day 4wding as well then I would be there in a flash...I would simply need that extra incentive.
Hope this is some food for thought.
John.

Thanks John , Cause this is such a new idea I didnt think of our own website , thats a good idea , pity I cant edit it myself , but I will try to get in touch with its creator.
I do understand your thoughts about coming here after your two visits , but as you say your on the north side. Mainly the park caters for the Gold Coast , Ipswich and the south side of Bris. If people like Bush camping and being away from the masses at holiday time then come here , I limit the no's , always. We are not another weekend resort destination , just a close legal place to play for a day , weekend or a few hours one afternoon. Your comments are like someone from Jimboomba saying that they would go to Janowen or the Springs over Cruiser cause its on this side of town. Notwithstanding I do understand your point and accept it as true for where you are. You still have lots of places to wheel on the north side. However , we do change , so if there is a trip with a group you are affiliated with , do come , even if it is only once a year or so. you will notice new tracks and other things.
I dont know all the relavant 4wd related forums , but this thread is on 5 that I know of so hopefully it will start with that and maybe if I get a good response I can advertise the markets with any excess funds raised , in newspaper , garage sale columns or something. Only time will tell.
