WOODPECKER - Pics and Stories !!

Post by Surfection »

Just got home, wow what a great day. A couple of rollovers, plently of drivetrain carnage and lots of fun had by everyone.... Highlights for me were the yellow lux's huge roll, cheezy's gearbox or transfer failure [not sure which one] and subsequent rev limiter action !! And the Mq of cookies awesome wheelstand and major V8 canning.

I've got nearly 200 pics, and an hour and a half of video... Since you poor queen's landers couldn't make it i'm gonna make two copies and send one up for you to share around. Ruff/Sam could you PM me an address to send it to ?

I'll start with the pics later, gotta go. ;)

I missed the first half of the day unfortunatly, took the bloody wrong road and got a bit lost, but made it in time to see the awsome weelstand on cookies MQ, pitty they disqualified him  It was a good effort.

For the coupla hours i was there it was great.
Unfortunatly now i know what my truck needs to be at competition level, and im affraid to say that dollars need to be spent to get it up to scratch :x

It was a great day.

The terrafirma hilux rolling was an awesome roll but it was lucky the driver and navi didnt get hurt it landed HARD. John John and jason rolled the red landcruiser xtra cab and on of the all coast boys was so close to rolling. Paul Pisani had drivetrain problems in the zook and lost all drive on CV rock that is just a couple of things that happened it was an awesome day and there was some great driving

Not sure about gonads overall uphiir, saw him and dobbins run stage one, both pissed it in... gonads was in full crowd pleasing mode, revving the tits off it !! We left before they got a chance to run stage two and three.

Didn't stick around long enough to find out who won !! Landcruiser club did ok with the recoveries, they did have a few pretty stuck ones to deal with, but they could have done the final attempt at moving the car the first time they tried, not the 7th or 8th. I'm talking about stage two for anyone that wants to have a winge at me :finger:

I'm not really sure..... i think it was because after the wheelstand, he had four or five full throttle blasts at a 2 metre section of track. I think apart from the officials dislike to that sort of driving [fairly out of control] that they counted more than three attempts at the 'one obsticle'. A guy in the crowd near me thought it was cause he jumped out of his car as soon as he had stopped to help his team mate down the next section.... but i don't think so.

G'day all,

I went out for the afternoon and saw the impressive wheelstand. he got disqualified because he wasn't wearing gloves when holding onto a snatch strap attached to the back of his team mates Purple FJ40 when it was going down the next obstacle which was a steep rocky hill.

Top photo's.
