when i bought them, $1080 from 4WDUSA in perth.. however someone i know has had a set of gears on order from them for a few months and had nothing arrive yet...

Did anyone else get all 4 needle rollers in there rebuild kit or did GRPABT1

I should have specified anyone that orderd the "rebuild" kit get all the needle rollers? The gears come with seals and gaskets so you orded the rebuild kit which gives you double seals and gaskets and is missing 3 bearings. 2 needle rollers and the front output support bearing. Or was this just my experience?

I got the two needle rollers for the idler shaft but had to buy the other three seperately.

I got mine from LOCKTUP4X4international (shameless plug) perhaps thats why???? Still need the friggin little one for the output shaft though don't I :x

IMO a rebuild kit should come with fukken everything!

Ok I thought I was being ripped off! You would think a "rebuild" kit would include everything but apparently not. Just an inconvenience Im up to the 3rd supplier to get everything I need.

I actually think the reason these aren't included is they rarely give trouble. If the case hasn't been full of water and/or sand, I reckon it should be fine.

I kept the factory ball bearings, needles on the gearset and the needle in the output shaft when I did my rebuild, just replaced the stuff TT supply in their kit (seals, needles for the counter shaft, gaskets, thrust washers) and mine has been apples.

I just washed and dried everything carefully and reassembled.

i suppose the point is that if you're going to rebuild a box, rebuid the whole box... some people want the satisfaction the whole lot is brand spanking =)

When I put the S1 in all those years ago I didnt replace anything but this time as it hauls the family around I want it to be relatively noise/rattle free and didnt want slop in the bearings to damage my gears. So I thought if Im doing sme I,l do them all. Only getting the bearing retainer as the mechanic that took the bearings off for me damaged it and the rear seal seats on it.

Chris from locktup4x4 is chasing me up the last little needle roller bearing for me free of charge for the stuffing around of the extra long to recieve my gears :D :armsup:

Just got me FREE needle roller bearing in the mail, it's a small little bugger. Chris also sent me a complimentary DVD and some stickers :armsup: :D Can't speak highly enough of the Locktup 4x4 international guys, thoroughly reccomend them.

Update on mine 2 extra needle rollers are still coming cant rush its my mate(and he is letting me use his workshop to instal the gears) . The bearing retainer that someone else took off with a hammer and chisel :bad-words: would take 3 weeks from japan :bad-words: , so I called in a favor and got a recently rebuild t/c with s1 gears with chipped teeth on one of the gears for free!! the case is even tapped for the breather one less thing for me to do.
Ground the case to clear the larger gears installed some bearings and seals just waiting on the 2 more bearings should be in tommorow.

Slight hi-jack, but does anyone have the individual bearing part number for the counter shaft rollers, or any of the individual bearing aprt numbers (eg NSK ------------).

My case was also a little damaged due to someone elses pathetic attempt to remove seals. It wasn't leaking oil as it was, but must have been a poor mechanic who rebuilt it originally.

We used very fine sand paper to smooth out the surface the seal is pushed into. Was easy enough to do & was very careful. The new seals were a very tight fit still and after the 1st trip out there are no signs of any leaks.

The grinding is easy with a Dremel, you only need to do a small amount. There is a link from Lowrangeoffroad with pics & instructions.

I was under the impression that they were an 'odd' sized roller and were not available generic. When I pulled mine apart I cannot remember seeing any numbers stamped on the rollers on the countershaft, dumped them on sunday otherwise I'd double check.
Wheeling on completely wicked angles, without even looking stable.

Do you mean the ones on the centre shaft? Not sure of the number but try CBC as the only 2 not in the KIT were suzuki only ones so you may be in luck.
Update on mine got it 90% together last night but the centre gear was about 1mm offset from the other 2 gears and yes I did have the slide washers or whatever the gold things are called installed correctly.
I cant post pics yet but all I did was dummy fit the centre gear and start grinding until it cleared.

The counter shaft (centre shaft with the two joined gears on it) roller bearings. I cant pull the case to get them out as an example cause i need the zook.

I have the suzuki part numbers, i was just trying to get them cheaper than suzuki sell them :oops: and avoid trying to deal with dealership spare parts that just ask for the VIN number, and when you tell them that it is not a standard fitment for that car, treat you like a moron.

tried cbc before. only suzuki only.

u guys must not know ur dealership guys much. know the ones at my usual quite well. i just look at the books and tell them what i need

Alright got my gears in swapped the cases over tried to drive off the hoist and bang.. wouldnt stay in 2 hi. Put it in to 4 low locked in great back to 2hi but it dosnt seem to lock in all the way, it goes in and drives but slips out.
Whats going on?? Apperently the case I used the guy didnt select hi or low properly dumped the clutch and shredded the small teeth the collers side on then the bits of metal went through the gearsand chipped teeth. I only used the case and the selecters, I pulled the selecters out and cleaned and re greased them other than that standard rebuild using my old inners with the 6.5 gears and all new bearings.
Could it possible be the selector sheet if never had trouble with these but apperantly they cause trouble?
Had to drive home in low range lucky it was only 200m.
