ok, I have been going through this forum over and over trying to find a page where someone has been in my position, Looking at fitting 35's under a lwb gq.
Im getting 4-5 inch tough dog suspension lift. And Im told that I can fit 35s under it.
Surely someone here has done this, and Im looking to know what they did to make them fit. And im aware that you have to cut the rear 1/4. IS that all you need to do!???
Im also wondering if you can get them to fit without doing body lift. And what happens when the car is at full flex, is it ripping the shit outa the inside wheel arches?
IF you did get 35s what is the best rim and tyre size, 12.5's ???
I was also looking through members rides for anyone who had done just suspension lift and was fitting 35s and looking for advice and dos and donts... If 35s are a serious issue with fitting them in, can someone let me know before i go and spend 2 grand on rims and tyres !! are they totally a bad decision?
Does anyone have any pics/first had experience of this kinda of setup, and does anyone have info about cutting the rear quater.... with pics!??

35's are illegal in Qld if that bothers you..
plenty of members rigs with 35's fitted
fit them up and see where it doesnt clear, you have mentioned the first issues.
what suspension kit are you going with, you need more than just 4 springs and shocks.
if your going to trim, go 3in lift and trim. lower the truck is the mroe stable it is

Was looking at 4-5inch adjustable stage 4 kit from superior - which includes all the adjustable panhards and arms etc, With coil drop outs. and No body lift. http://www.superiorengineering.com.au/p ... ts_id=2780

I have a 5 inch TD kit that has sagged over 3 odd years to 4 inch.
I run 35inch Miockey Thompson MTZs.
No body lift.
Radius arms spaced forward 15mm.
Landcruiser offset rims.
No rear quarter cut.
Lots of rear wheel tuck with no extended bumpstops.
A bit of rubbing in the rear wheelarch.
Cut the 6th and 7th seat, seat belt nuts off abit out of the rear wheelarch so they dont destroy the tyres on full tuck.
Adjustable panards.
Easy. Set and forget.

This is a shot off my mtr which is nearly dead, tucked in the gaurd. It is only a 33 and is small for it's size. I run 4" king springs, 30mm spring spacers and 30mm body lift. I'll be cutting and putting longer bumpstops on to go bigger soon!

I have a sagged 4" lift and run the 35's fine some rubbing in the guards i extended the bump stops and run cruiser rims 15x8 works fine but it still touches. On the front it touches some but radius spacers for me would make it worse. A body lift would help as would making the car sits level all around my panhards need to be aligned so that is not helping me.
Sold the patrol just web wheelin now.
hrmm ok, sounds like most people here are getting them to kinda fit with just lift. And not a real whole lot more... Im also told that some 35s are much bigger then other 35's. I dont know how you can really figure that out, unless you speak to a tire shop who know what they are talking about i guess?

I know swampers and simex et2's and jt2s are a tall tyre as putting them up against the Mtrs the Mtrs are at least an inch smaller in overall diameter also radial claws are small too if this helps at all. ( these were all run on 15x8 cruiser offset rims) as is the pic above. I dont see the purpose in limiting the upward travel hence i havent put extended bump stop on yet but may be necessary for 35s. I wish to run q78s for my next set so if i dont have it cut into a ute by then then i'll massage the gaurds a bit and do bump stops.

Anything over a 2" lift and 15mm in the tyres but we seem to get away with 33" tyres as long as they are within the guards.
You cannot get a lift engineered for over a 2" lift no matter what. This should change though by the end of the year; we hope.
Because the laws are so tight with no room for mods even if you intend to make it a safer vehicle, most people just do what they want and wing it.
So do what you want but keep them within the guards so you don't draw attention to yourself.

I appreciate everyones input, knowing the specific rim size and tire size, and the links to the manufacturer's specific tire diameter answer exactly what i've been looking for. And knowing the setups that have worked!
And knowing that people first hand have run 35's on their gq, without having to modify anything drastically allowing for the occasional guard massage is very reassuring.

its just poor forming of the tyre, too much weight on the one side, and it can accentuated when the wheel and they tyre both have a heavy side, and they end up on the same side.

I run 3in lifted springs 30mm bump stop spaces in the rear and radius arms 10mm spacers in the front and run 34/11.5/15 Simex JT2's
I had to remove the front mud flaps but the rest is factory wide pack gear.....this will make way soon as the rear mud flaps are getting caned from being bent back offroad....
I prefer to keep my Trol low as possible as it is the wifes DD.

Man thats looks tuff as. I have a lwb gq and was looking at getting 35's i have a 2inch suspension lift and thought i would have to go higher but if you say thats all he has done may have to give it a goNelso wrote:2" lift and 35s.
