thinking of doing something a bit different on my new project.
was thinking of 4 mikuni carbs of of a GSXR1100 cc motorbike
i have found a little bit of info but not much so any advice would be helpful
and before you say put a 1.3 or 1.6 into it i would like to be a little different and build a high comp non turbo 1000cc engine

I hate going to weddings because all the grandma's used to poke me in the ribs saying you're next, you're next. They've stopped doing it since I started doing it to them at funerals.
A friend had Mik's fitted to a 13b Rotary - they are good carbies.
He was very patient and with a good knowledge of how they work but took him a long while to get right.
His biggest issue was the lack of accell pumps - it would stumble on rapid throttle changes. Also as bikes carbs are gravity fed he was very carefull with fuel pressure.
When it was finally done it went very well and it looked cool.
However it was lots of years ago and injection wasn't an option, I think if he had of had the choice between EFI and Miks the EFI would have won - but we will never know.
For dusty and wet conditions the sock style aircleaners might not be adequate - they are easy to fit and that's a big plus but IMO are more suitable for road use.

i was gunna use an electric water pump and thermostat.
In the past i have buit up motors for cars using the same principle of more air and fuel in. had 8 throttlebodies and mechanical injection on a 289 windsor and swapped to a single carb and lost bulk power.
I realise any gains will be minimal on a 1 ltr but geez it would be cool

About ten years ago a mate fitted four carbs off an FJ1200 Yamaha to his Datsun 120Y.(A12 motor)
It took him a fair while to sort it out and it revved like a sewing machine but had less torque and used a LOT more fuel than stock.
After he upped the compression(decked block & custom pistons), lightened the flywheel and balanced the internals it went better but the fake bonnet scoop full of fuel (bike carbs are gravity fed) was a bit of a worry.
He had to drive it a lot harder to keep it in the narrower power range.
It also stuttered a bit as Mightymouse has said his mates did but Ollie (sort of)got around this by having a progressive linkage arrangement so that 2 carbs cracked just a bit before the others and fitted a balance pipe in the custom manifold instead of four seperate runners.

Its funny - years ago when the only cheap option was carbies, injection was king no matter whether it was continuous flow or timed mechanical and if you were very very wealthy EFI.
Ram tubes, individual throttle plates and injectors - to die for.
Multiple carbies do look cool and complex but are never going to work as well as an EFI system and are going to have far more challenges.

Remember for 1000cc you use carbs of a 500cc or even 250cc four and jet to suit. for a 1300cc motor you use 650cc carbs and std fuel pump with restrictor [sp] to suit. ps go to your local bike wreckers and ask questions you might be able to get a fuel injection system off a bike to fit Boner

im setting up a set of zx10 carbs off a kawaski ninga on my sierra i have found a few things u have 2 do
first u have 2 get a jet kit 4 they which comes with new springs slides jets ect as the carbs run on vacum and the slides on the carbs wont open fully or fast enough 4 sudden acellaration
second u need 2 get a low pressure regulater 2 drop ya standard fuel pressures i normally around about 3-4psi is good
next u have 2 get it on a dyno and do a power run (after u have it ideling and reving free) which means u start in second hit red line in every gear and stop this will give u a power curv for each gear and help with tuning of these carbs
if u dont know how 2 tune carbs then i reconmend not doing it
this is pics of my set up just waiting 4 dyno time and they b on sorry pics r on another website and i cant post them on here heres the link

We ported the block, packed the crank case ,lightened the flywheel, changed the reed valves, shaved 40" off the head and cut up an original manifold and made adaptor plates to fit the carbies.
An electric fuel pump was borrowed from a mates drag car as efi cars at the wreckers didn't exist in85'.
The carbies needed slider mods ,new needle and seats ,rejetting and sh1tloads of hours to get it started.
The result..
An Lj 50 that could wheelstand at the lights and use the 29litres in the tank in about 120ks. Power is either on or off .
END result broke 3 cranks 6 pistons 2 blocks REAL result (quite broke with cool door stops)
Advice get an efi system and hide it inside 4 beautiful side draught carbies(with all internals stripped out) Hot rodders have been doin this for the last decade best of both worlds no headaches

if u want to be diffrent fit the bike motor
wouldn't be to hard where the chan goes on the motor u get a flange made up so you can fit a tail shaft up (theirs a lot of clubman cars getting around with bike motors in them) from memory it costs around $60 to have one made.
never seen on in a 4wd and the suk should be light enough to do it
