Feroza Roof Rack Pics

Post by Tzi »

I just got some rola racks for my fez, and wondered if anyone can supply me with a pic, so I know how far to put the front one forward.
It seems to rub on the roof if it is too far back.. but too far forward looks silly.
Also.. what bolt do I place the back one on?
Pics anyone?

Dunno if this pic helps, but you should be able to see where I've mounted mine. If I want to open or remove the front roof section, then I simply remove the front bar. Ideally I'd like 2 bars on the rear and dispense with the front one altogether.

I "sleeved" the front bar bracket with electrical tape (nice and neatly) where it sits in the gutter to stop it rubbing and wearing away the paint.

If you want to open your roof, you just have to put it forward. Open the roof and sit the rack on as far back as possible with it just clearing the roof panel. To take the roof off, you either have to remove the rack or have it mounted at the very front.

It also depends on how high the support legs for the bars are- you can get them in different lengths. My Rolas were short and you couldn't open the roof without doing some damange to the sunroof.

I used to leave the rear one on permanently and just refit the front one when I needed to use them.

Got a magnifying glass? :)

With the pod on there was no way to slide the front rack forward...

here's mine, My Bro in-law put them on way before he sold it to me and found out the hard way that if the front one is to far back it rubs. There are three or four rub marks on the sunroof that are about 1.5mm deep :bad-words:

With the rack this far forward it clears the sunn roof by about........yeah that much :?

In this one you can see the white mark about three inches behind the rack which is where it rubbed through all the paint and into the fibreglass. :bad-words:

If it aint broke pull it apart and find out why not.

Mine had those marks as well. At least it won't rust. :)

Thanks for the pics guys... its just what i wanted ;)

I'll be putting the front rack forward for a while, but later I can move it back when I finish my custom sunroof.

I bought a second targa-top which I will be attacking with a jigsaw very soon.
When finished, it will have a large hole in the top, the size of the opening in the car-roof and covered in vista-weave (expensive shadenet)...
Hopefully I will be able to make a 'lid' from the section I cut out.. so i can cover the shadenet to be waterproof when it rains.

anyway.. when thats done, I wont need to 'pop' the roof, and can have the front roofrack a bit further back. ;) :P
